Friday and Gannon work the case of a missing student and instead discover a troubled young woman. The episode has twists, turns, and unexpected ending.
The episode presents psychiatric issues in a thoughtful and understanding manner, which is progressive for the time. Also unexpected is how Friday and the announcer both say no crime occurred. Today, the police would find a crime in this episode, such as improper usage of identity cards, fraudulent usage of public resources, or something else showing how times change. While not commenting directly on a post 9/11 world, it does help us see the changes (and many not for the better).
This episode shows how many TV shows / episodes can have timeless and unexpected by the writers messages even 40 years later.
