  • Friday gets "busted" for doing his job.

Joe Friday is taking a night course in psychology, a sensitivity course of sorts, in pursuit of a master's degree in criminology. In this class the students know nothing about the others' jobs or anything else personal about the other students. This is so they can speak freely without fear of repercussion. One of the students speaks freely about his dealing in drugs. Friday hears this, but does nothing because he accepts the students right to speak freely in this class. However, when the student inadvertently exposes a couple of pouches of marijuana in his possession, Friday is forced to act and arrests the student in the hall after class. The hippy professor wants Friday expelled, and puts it up to a vote of the students, but gives a very biased presentation of the facts, accusing Friday of infiltrating the class in order to catch drug dealers and abusers. The class votes him out, at first, but he returns later and asks for another vote. This time he gets unexpected help from a fellow student, who agrees that the professor is biased, not just against Friday, but against the police in general. During the class, Friday gives his experienced opinion of why illegal narcotics should remain so.
