    Friday and Gannon work in the Los Angeles Business Office covering various situations. The shift starts at 16:00 and ends at midnight and starts off with an incoming tidal wave from Japan (7.2 Sea Quake) due to hit in eight hours. Other events include:

    Diabetic needing medical treatment. Peaceful protesters who want to change the laws, but also disrupt normal BOD activities. Person who commits suicide. Reviews of burglary, robbery, and other reports. An officer being shot in the line of duty. Lost child. Person who needs help from the Police Chief, as men from Jupiter are after him.

    Finally in the middle of all this activity is a friend of Captain Stanley, Father Frank Barnes. Father Barnes is writing an article on law enforcement for a secular magazine and wants to learn from Friday.moreless

    Friday and Gannon act as the night watch commander for the juvenile division. The role turns out to be advisory in this episode. We see the length and breadth of a typical night for juveniles in the late 1960s and today. Events include a teenage drug user, 13 year-old male runaway from New York, abandoned baby and his disturbed Mother, two minors who got married, a girl growing into a woman whose Mother doesn't see the change, a false accusation of theft / robbery against a girl, and other interesting events.moreless

    The episode opens (09:00) with Gannon using a new (for the time) exercise method called isometrics and explaining it to Friday. Captain Ron Frankel gives Friday and Gannon a run down on a new fraud case. Someone stole Monument Studios payroll checks, as well as the driver's license and credit cards of an employee of the studio for proof of identity. Gannon and Friday follow various clues until they get a tip leading them to the various homes of hippies. Who is really a victim, the guilty party, and who is Gannon & Friday considering and might be innocent? Finally, who is this hippie that helps Friday and Gannon and what is his game? Is he wanting revenge, love, or is he there to take his girl to Mexico before the law catches up with her?moreless

    An old night school friend with political aspirations invites Friday to an alumni meeting at his home. Friday discovers he is consider joining a militia. Friday explains how he and most likely the department don't need the help of fringe groups on either side of various issues. Frank Barker, a member of the Fielder Militia, over hears Friday but doesn't believe Friday meant all he said. He wants Friday's help in getting a Federal Weapons License. Friday needs help in busting him and finding the location of the militia's stash of stolen government weapons and explosives.moreless
