  • Piccolo dies when the earth blows up, he sacrifices his energy to goku.

I honestly started crying when I saw this episode! It was well done except for the fact that piccolo wasn't acknowledged at the end of the episode at all. The best part of the episode was when Piccolo was reflecting on Gohan's life and how he matured, while Gohan just started crying. I am glad that they put Piccolo's last moment with Gohan because he was really like a son to Piccolo. If it weren't for Gohan, Piccolo wouldn't have been the person he was. I was in complete tears when the episode was over, and I know it's only fiction, but it was a really great moment in Dragonball history.moreless

    • (After Goku runs out of energy and goes back to Chibi Goku from Super Saiyan 4, and Goku and Piccolo are still on earth with Danny)
      Goku: We've failed, Piccolo.
Piccolo: You can do anything, you're Goku!

    • (Piccolo talking to Gohan on the exploding Earth)
      Piccolo: Good-bye, my friend.

    • Vegeta: Goku, can you do Instant Transmission in your current state?
Goku: No, but Super Saiyan 4 can do it.
Vegeta: Super Saiyan 4 can do it, huh? Rub it in why don't you.

    • Vegeta: If Baby weren't already dead, I'd do the honors myself.

    • Piccolo: It's begun. Raaaaaaaaaahh!!!
Gohan: Piccolo, don't leave us! PICCOLO!

    • Piccolo: Let's talk about something else, like how you've matured. It was watching you that made me grow. You;ve shown me that true power is nothing if not guided by love. Thank you my friend. Goodbye.

    • Gohan: You can send a ship up now we're ready for transport.
      Goku: I wish I could but I can't.
Chi Chi: HOW DARE YOU! (shoves Gohan out of the screen) Goku! You're plotting something! You don't want us to come back!
Goku: No that's not it at all I promise.
Chi Chi: I'm too old for you now is that it? (starting to cry) You found a pretty young girl your age haven't you? (Cries)
Goku: Chi Chi you know that isn't true. I just don't want you back because the Earth will blow up in 2 weeks.

    • (About to transport to Planet Tuffle)
18: You'll have to grab someone else's (hands) mine are taken.
Maron: If you get left behind make sure you bring the luggage.
Krillin: You two have some nerve. I get more respect from total strangers!

  • NOTES (12)

    • Technique used:
Instant Transmission (used by Trunks, Goku, Goten, Gohan, and Kibito Kai).

    • Cameos include: Master Roshi, Yamcha, Oolong, Puar, Tien, Chiaotzu, Suno, Android 8, Upa, Korin, Yajirobe, The Ox-King and Nam. None of them actually talk in the Japanese version.

    • This is truthfully Piccolo's fourth death, if you count that he was King Piccolo's reincarnation.

    • First aired on YTV January 7, 2005.

    • Pilaf and his faithful tackies make their final appearance in the history of the Dragonball trilogy. Their first in the Pilaf saga, then a short return in the red-ribbon saga, a flashback in the red-ribbon saga, a shorter return in the Baba saga, there longest return to the King Piccolo saga, a two episode stint in the wedding saga (taking place right after Piccolo Jr. but before the end of DB), a flashback stint (thanks to Bulma)in the Namek saga, a picture stint on a card game in "Bojack Unbound", a long awaited and anti-climatic short return in GT episode 1, a large flashback in the GT recap "A Grand Problem", and of course their extremely short occurance in this episode when Goku (for compassion reasoning) saved their lives.

    • Upa is also seen in this episode.

    • Blue Water Title: Piccolo's Ultimate Sacrifice

    • Yamcha, Tien, Oolong and Puar make their debuts on GT. Roshi is also on this episode, but he appeared in the first lost episode, so he only appears first in the English version. Nam, Suno and Android 8 from Dragonball also appear in this episode.

    • In the arcade scene, the redhaired bully sounds (and looks) exactly like Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho.

    • King Furry from Dragonball is seen in this episode. We also see SSJ4 Goku transporting many other Dragonball characters(even Pilaf, Shu, and Mai!).

    • This is Piccolo'ss third death, first was by the saiyan Napa, second by Majin Buu

    • Piccolo actually STAYS dead for the rest of the series. He is never wished back to life.
