Episode Summary

EDIT
Bulma's Big Day
Bulma screams to be let down, and reminisces on her troublesome life. She bites the soldier holding her, and she drops him. They catch her and land in a clearing. Bulma tries to escape but her efforts are fruitless. She eavesdrops on their conversation and finds out that they don't know about the Dragon Balls, so she explains to them how the wish could make them stronger than even Frieza. They like the idea of boundless strength and insist that she show them where the other balls are. In Space, Goku uses to Kaio-ken to form a energy ball and throws it into the gravitational pull of the gravity machine, causing it to cycle around the room. Goku then gathers energy for a Kamehameha and fires it at the other energy ball. Instead of them connecting, they overlap and hit Goku, one on the back and one on the chest. He endures the hit as if it were nothing.moreless

The two soldiers drag Bulma to the lake and tell her to get back into the capsule. They go underwater and start to look for the Dragon Balls. Bulma leads them into a cave where there are hundreds of tiny orbs. The two soldiers go after the "Dragon Balls", but before long notice that they aren't really Dragon Balls. Bulma snags the real Dragon Ball and fires a flare at the cave roof. causing it to collapse.. The orbs start to hatch, as they are crab eggs. The mother crab emerges and buys Bulma some time. Bulma makes it to the surface, but the two soldiers emerge shortly thereafter, quite angry with her. The mother crab surprisingly also emerges and grabs the two soldiers, taking them back down into the lake.

This episode does not even happen in the manga. Simply put, its not a real manga oriented episode. It's a concoction to lenghthen the overall run. This is a fine example of horrible filler in the middle of an excellent saga. This episode has no chance or any other competition next to the rest of the saga. Although it fails to accomplish anything but Bulma running around after a dragonball, it sets up for another filler episode with Bulma. Two fillers in a row, not a good thing. Though this filler-mania is seen way more often in future sagas, such as buu saga and cell saga, where the fillers are even more common. Still, this episode fails because it's filler. And there could be a filler that's an enjoyable one, though this one fails to be enjoyable as well. Basically, other than the fact that it's a filler episode, it's also not an enjoyable one as well.moreless
