Bulma wanders around wearing a grey tank top and bikini briefs underwear that is similar to what Sigourney Weaver's character, Ripley, wears in the sci-fi space horror movie Alien.

Although Krillin loses his hat in this episode, in future episodes, he wears the same hat.

After Gohan leaves his room and his mother finds him, the bandages on his knees disapear and then come back.

In the Japanese version of this episode, Krillin was told to let Vegeta go because Goku wanted to be the one who beat Vegeta once and for all. In the uncut English version, Krillin was told to let Vegeta go because Goku believed that if someone like Piccolo could become good, Vegeta could also become good to.

Krillin actually says "damn" in the Cartoon Network airing of this episode.

Ape Vegeta actually says "Damn you!" in the Cartoon Network airing!

Goku uses Kaioken x3 and he can not stop crushing - Vegeta gets angry and uses Galick Gun against Goku who uses kaioken x3 x4 Kamehameha - Goku wins but Vegeta is not dead...

In the original English dubbed version, Vegeta said Goku's father was the one who created the blood waves in order for them to transform into giant apes.

At this point in the series, Goku still doesn't know about the Saiyan ability to become a Great Ape, yet he seems unphased by the portions of King Kai's story which go into great detail about the Great Ape's destruction of the Tuffles.
