Goku... Super Saiyan?

Episode Summary

Goku begins to fight with Recoome after he gives Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta Ginsu Beans. Recoome powers up for a "Recoome Kaboom," after the scouter reads that Goku's power level is only 5,000. He thinks he can beat Goku easily. But, Goku is concealing his power, and only Vegeta, Gohan, and Krillin know it. Recoome starts to attack, but then stops dead because Goku elbowed him in the stomach, taking Recoome down. Jeice and Burter are surprised, but not worried...Vegeta begins to wonder if Goku is a legendary Super Saiyan. The last Super Saiyan (who lived hundreds of years ago) could only maintain his power in the transformed state, and he could not control it. Goku, however, was in complete control, and had lost his tail permanently as a boy, so he could not transform. Jeice and Burter start to attack. Goku just stands there. Or is he moving? Vegeta sees foot prints in different spots, so he must be moving. But, how could even a saiyans eyes not even sense the movement? Goku begins to fight back, and makes a fool of Burter and Jeice. He defeats Burter, and tells Jeice that he can leave, unscathed, as long as he leaves the planet. Jeice flies away, but he does not leave Namek.moreless

  • Goku...A Super Saiyan?

    Goku has finally arrived on Namek and is going to start his round of fighting but first, he gives Gohan, Vegeta and Krillin some sensue beans. Recoome, Burter and Jeice see through their scouter that Goku has a power level of only 1,000. But Goku is hiding his powers and only Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan are aware of it. Recoome powers up for his "Recoome Kaboom" but is unable to use it because Goku has elbowed him thus winning the fight. Jeice and Burter are surprised but decide to give Goku a scare by launching energy attacks. They brush through Goku like nothing! Vegeta sees the ground and realizes that Goku had moved but one of them had been able to see it. Then Vegeta begins to wonder whether Goku has become a Super Saiyan.moreless

    Goku arrives at the battlefield, and gives both Krillin and Gohan sensu beans. He even throws one to Vegeta. Gohan and Krillin tell him how powerful Recoome is, and offer their services, but Goku is calm. He engages with the big ogre, who powers up for an ultimate attack. Before he was able to even fire it, Goku delivered a powerful elbow strike to his stomach, knocking him out. Jeice and Burter battle him next. After doing their poses, they circled around Goku, intimidating him with their speed and presence. However, Goku continud to remain still. Jeice and Burter finally fired a couple shots, but they went through. It wasn't that it didn't go through; Goku moved so fast, that it looked like he didn't move at all! Vegeta then realizes that Goku might be a legendary super saiyan.

    Badass episode. This reminds me so much of the fight with Nappa and Earth's special forces, because Nappa is a big ogre like Recoome, and gets easily pounded by Goku, whom the previous fighters had a lot of trouble with. What's also similar is the fact that the previous enemies of in the previous arc, are now aiding in the battle--Piccolo and Vegeta. Despite being dragged out, it was cool how they built up Recoome getting his ass handed to him, and the scene with Jeice and Burter's energy blasts going through Goku was cool. While the opening scene, with Ginyu trying out some of the grunts back at the spaceship was filler, it was pretty amusing filler. It was just funny seeing the guys being sent into the sky, and them shaking because they might mess up their dancing audition was just funny to watch. And what Bulma said in her small amount of screentime was hilarious. "I want to shave my legs!"moreless
