AIRED:

The new enemy manages to launch a sneak attack on Piccolo that leaves one of his arms damaged beyond all use. Knowing he doesn't stand a chance with only one arm, Piccolo surrenders, but asks the creature to tell him who he is as a last request. He agrees and introduces himself as Cell, Dr. Gero's masterpiece formed from the cells of the strongest warriors ever to walk the earth, including the Saiyans, Piccolo, and Frieza.

A fleet of tanks roll into Ginger town to destroy the new threat, but Cell quiets the army's attempt with one swift blow. Now it's up to Piccolo to stop the monster, and his chances look slim. As the Namek struggles to survive, Cell takes the opportunity to introduce himself! He's actually an android, infused with the cells of the greatest fighters on Earth, the ultimate achievement of Dr.Gero! He also explains how the samples were gathered, through use of a inconspicuous robotic fly which followed Goku throughout his lifetime dating back from Dragon Ball! Ever since the first Martial Arts Tournament, where Goku and Piccolo met for the first time, Dr.Gero had been gathering specimens for his perfect creation! Cell is a living copy of the Z fighters attacks and abilities. How can Piccolo have any hope of defeating him?

okay so the episode is dragged out but at least it explains what cell is and what he wants. And it showed Piccolo's wisdom wellmoreless
  • His name is Cell, and he wants your cells!

Piccolo was caught off guard after being instilled by shock of Cell's kamehameha wave. He clang onto him, and started sucking away his energy. Piccolo was able to free himself with a rotten arm hanging on his left side. Though before he submit himself, he asks Cell to reveal the origins of his existence and the goals he was made for. After Cell told his life story, Piccolo threw away his old arm, and regenerated it back.

Nothing beats a good old episode of explanations and twists. All of these different villains that are at first believed to be the main villain, such as Androids 19 and 20, then 17 and 18, and now Cell. It was pretty interesting to see all of these unanswered questions being thoroughly explained, but the first half was pretty dragged out, and some of it made you shake your head, such as the interruption before the news showed ginger town, the pointless scene with the army men, and Piccolo getting the piccolo juice sucked out of his arm.moreless
  • Cell reveals to Piccolo his plan to become the most powerful being in the universe.

    6.3
This episode wasn't horrible, but the only part of it that had substance was when Cell explained what Dr. Gero had been up to. It wasn't a very long story, and so the episode was really dragged out. The story that we got was interesting, however.

Nothing really happened here, but this new enemy Cell is a very interesting idea. If he has the power of all the strongest fighters, perhaps all of them together could beat him. However, if he gets the powers of the androids, they'll all be in trouble.

There are still elements of the story which remain to be explained, however. For example, how was history changed so much that the first two androids were one that Trunks had never seen before, as well as Dr. Gero himself?

This was nice in that it didn't reveal everything, but the episode itself was definitely not one of the better ones.moreless
