EDIT
Journey to Namek
AIRED:
All of the supplies are acquired and Kami's ship is ready for departure. Krillin, Gohan and Bulma bid the others farewell and blastoff for Namek. The Namekian Dragon Balls can decide the fates of friends and fellow heroes, so – despite the obvious difficulty – anything less than success isn't an option. Great danger does indeed loom out there, and it comes much sooner than expected.moreless

  • Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma head out together to journey for Namek. Vegeta returns to an army base to recover.

    7.0
Nothing much happens. Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma are ready to head for Namek. Goku wants to join them but he is too weak in his current state and opts to rest for a little longer. Chi Chi starts being annoying again and packs a lot of stuff for Gohan's trip to Namek.

They all head off to Namek and everything looks okay, until they accidentally run into a mysterious space ship in outer space and are attacked by the refugees there. Meanwhile, Vegeta sets his space pod to return to the army base to recover from his injuries.

Will Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma make it to planet Namek in one piece?moreless
  • An episode that sets out to do exactly what it needs to do, and nothing more.

    7.7
In just a matter of seconds, Mr. Popo and Bulma find themselves at Jupiter. After taking it back to earth for the Capsule corp to fix up, they all make plans on who's going. Since Bulma is the only mechanic they have, she's an obvious choice. Krillin and Gohan volunteered. After meeting at Roshi's house for the take off, the three are calmly waiting for them to arrive on Namek. But during their trip, they encounter extra terrestrials that greet them with hostility. The three accidentally enter a spaceship, and explore the area a bit. Suddenly, Bulma is captured, and soldiers storm Krillin and Gohan.

A nice and charming episode. Seeing Gohan with his new short haircut and wearing those formal clothes was just so adorable. Resembles nothing like the beast that was fighting equally with Vegeta earlier. Other than that, an average episode, but it did exactly what it was set out to do, and nothing really more than that, and that's set itself up for the next arc. Though these fillers are kind of unappreciating, unless they're anything like that orphanage episode, or as unintentionally funny as the last battle against Vegeta.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • In this episode, Krillin wears a hat that is labeled "Kulilin," an acceptable romanization of his name, and a shirt with the text "Kame," the romanization for the Japanese term meaning "turtle" (he previously trained under Master Roshi, or "Kame-sennin") printed on the back.

    • Kami's old ship seems more durable than it should, capable of being moved to Capsule Corp. and later to Master Roshi's island. Unlike other large objects seen throughout the series, the spaceship uses alien technology, so it cannot be shrunken down to capsule form.

Considering that it had to be repaired before actually using it, it makes sense for Bulma to have made it collapsible like a Capsule Corp. model. As for how it was transported to Bulma's in the first place, Mr. Popo could have used his powers to transport it there instantly. However, this matter is never given an actual explanation.

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Bulma: (about the Namekian spaceship) It zoomed like a well greased wheel, as smooth as...hmmm, lets see, as smooth as Master Roshi's head!
Mr. Popo: But not as hard.
Krillin: I'm sorry. I didn't believe you at first. You're a trooper, Bulma.
Master Roshi: But watch those comments about my head, young lady.
