Episode Summary

EDIT

With Piccolo gone, Android 17 has no choice but to fight Cell on his own or so it seems, that is until Android 16 launches a silent complaint by pummeling Cell with a fury of fisticuffs. As the battle rages on, it is easily noticeable that Android 16 is just as strong as Cell. Knowing the fight is at a stalemate Cell uses a desperate attempt to absorb Android 16 into his being, but due to the way Android 16 was built Cell is unable to complete the Androids demise. Android 16 proceeds to rip off Cell tail, ensuring that the greedy monster could never absorb anyone ever again, but Cell has Piccolo's regenerative ability, and instantly regrows his deadly tail. Can the silent giant Android 16 defeat Cell, and if not who can, perhaps this fight will buy Vegeta and Trunks the precious time they need to complete their training in the hyperbolic time chamber.

  • 16 finally begins to fight.

I loved this episode. The writers set this up perfectly--they made Android 16 seem like he would not be as strong as the other androids, but then he finally steps up to the plate and shows how strong he really is. He stuns the other androids with his strength as he tries to hold off Cell. I loved how 16 was silent and peaceful throughout the android saga to well develop his character. I also loved his unique abilities, like how he can fire his hands off as rockets, and then fire cannons from his wrists. I thought his character was well thought out and a great addition to the android saga. This was most definitely, 'a very special episode'.moreless
  • Another great episode.

    9.0
THese episodes are getting better and better. Piccolo is beaten up and 17 has to fight cell on his own. 17 is quickly overwhelmed.. but look who shows up the silent warrior 16. I think they may have wasted too much time on seventten dodging cell. But the other part of the episode when 16 and cell fight is great these episodes are making up for the previous dissapointments.
  • 16 the silent warrior, but also a ferocious fighter.

    8.5
17 tries defending himself against Cell by battling him, but he's vastly overpowered. Cell was on the verge of absorbing 17, but 16 came from behind and knocked him off. 16 fought Cell for the sake of the planet, and seemed to have everything under control. The battle seemed decided when he ripped off Cell's tail, but thanks to Piccolo's genes, he's able to regrow it back.

Another great episode. It does all the right things a shounen anime should be done. Seeing 17 get knocked around even though he was highly advertised by Trunks for the longest time to being the strongest fighter really built up suspense for Cell, though the episode did an even better job of making you hyped up when 16 said he's as strong as Cell. A good fight; not 17 and Piccolo caliber, but a fight with a lot of substance and meaning.moreless
