Episode Summary

EDIT
The Reunion
AIRED:

The Z Fighters and company have many problems, but have just gotten another one. The second time capsule's pilot has found the populated Gingertown. He wreaks destruction on the property, but he has an even worse fate for the people. Kami senses this and is horrified – both by the destruction and the creature's great power. Old fears fade, as – much to Mr. Popo's sadness – Piccolo and Kami reunite. The emerging being looks like Piccolo and is called the same, but is noticeably different. He has no time to adjust, though. Piccolo races into action to try to save Gingertown.

  • Suspense carried on.

    8.6
As the three split up from their investigation, Bulma watches something odd on her TV within her vehicle. The entire population of Ginger town, not too far away from the mysterious time capsule location they just investigated, has disappeared. It might have to do with the creature. Soon, even the cameramen and reporter who were covering the story also fell victim. Kami finally decides to fuse with Piccolo, and head afterwards to Ginger town. There, they meet the abomination that ate away an entire town.

The suspense was really well executed, plotted, and paced. First, it was the fact that Ginger town was not too far off from where Bulma, Trunks, and Gohan, had just left. Then, even the cameramen and reporter get attacked. The ceasing of the gun firing really did a good job of adding towards the atmosphere. It was also badass to see Kami and Piccolo fuse, and a good time to test their strength now that they're facing their new opponent. I really don't remember Dragonball Z to be this exciting.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Look Closely: The CQV channeling reporter who is reporting on the disappearance of the people in Ginger town (and gets absorbed by Cell immediately afterward) is the same man who reports on the Android attack in a random city (called the "newly restored art district" in the dub) in the beginning of the special, The History of Trunks.

    • Goof: Three episodes ago, the Androids' van's license plate number was BB1223 while this episode has it as 69-69.

    • Inconsistency: When Kami and Piccolo are about to fuse, Kami tells Piccolo to put his hand on his chest, and he does. But when the scene changes, Piccolo's hand is still by his side.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Piccolo: No longer am I Kami or Piccolo. I am the Namek who has long since forgotten his name.

    • (Shop owner talking in a Texas accent.)
Shop Owner: Well how do you like it?
Android 18: How do you "think" I like it? It's grotesque! But I guess I can't expect to find much better in a hick town like this.

    • Gohan: Hey Trunks! ...Earth to Trunks!
      Trunks
      : Huh? Yeah?
Gohan: Do you have any idea what kind of creature that might have been back there?
      Trunks
: Nope. Afraid not. But whatever it was, was just about the ugliest thing that I've ever seen.
      Gohan
: No kidding. That thing almost made me sick to my stomach.

    • Piccolo: You know something! Tell me what's going on right now!
Kami: Telling you is pointless now.
      Piccolo: Why?
Kami: Because when we become one, you will know for yourself everything that has happened.
