Episode Summary

EDIT
Vegeta...Saiyan Style!
AIRED:
With a device that mimics a full moon, Vegeta has undergone a Saiyan transformation. Worse, he is quite intelligent in this form – not just some mindless ape. A nasty chase ensues, with Vegeta the predator to Goku's prey. Running and hiding forever are hardly viable options for Goku. Unfortunately, the best alternative – the Spirit Bomb – involves risks, too. Goku reveals his location as he tries to create one, but Vegeta grabs him first. He now threatens to crush the life out of him.moreless

  • Gone ape?!V

    8.5
Vegeta has gone ape! Just like Goku had when he was a child. But, Goku doesn't seem to realize that Vegeta didn't squish his grandfather, but Goku did as a child. Krillin and Gohan take their little time to get on their way to Vegeta and Goku.. but finally they. In the end, you see them planning a way to stop the ape while the ape is crushing Goku's bones.. How painful!

This was a pretty slow and boring episode, but still interesting to watch to get to know the saga a little better. It seems that Vegeta's reign of terror is coming to an end.. Lets see how this does.

I really like the idea of the ape thing. But, why take so long to kill Goku? How lucky Goku is that he got to blast Vegeta while he was taking his time to poke Goku which is giant finger slowly.moreless
  • Vegeta realizes that he cannot beat Goku and transforms into a giant ape. Goku devises a plan to launch the Spirit Bomb to kill Vegeta but requires time to do it.moreless

    9.5
Vegeta transforms into a giant ape which increases his power 10x. He is much stronger than before and Goku is no match for him. Goku decides that in order to win he must use the Spirit Bomb, but requires enough time to charge it. On the way to Master Roshi's, Gohan and Krillin sense trouble and rush back to the battlefield to aid Goku.

Goku manages to get some distance from Vegeta by using the Solar Flare technique which temporarily blinds Vegeta. He runs away and starts charging the Spirit Bomb. But Vegeta recovers at the last second and knocks Goku out and he loses the power of the Spirit Bomb. Goku runs out of energy and Vegeta is still standing. Goku and Krillin make it to the scene, they also see Yajriobe. They explain that the only way to win is by cutting off his tail so he transforms back into his saiyan state.

Can Gohan and Krillin cut off Vegeta's tail and save Goku?moreless
  • Kind of boring...

    7.2
Vegeta created an orb that creates the same light that the moon emits--even though scientifically, the moon doesn't emit light, but shines at night because the light is reflected from the sun. Goku is simply getting pounded on. His Keio ken attack is no longer useful at this point, and the only thing that will be good for him is the spirit bomb, but it takes a long time to charge that attack up. Then he gets an idea. He uses Tien's Solar Flare attack to blind Vegeta for ten seconds (even though it felt more like two minutes) to charge up for the attack. Goku was on the verge of unleashing the Spirit bomb, but Vegeta recovered quickly. Then, Krillin and Gohan come, and devise a plan in order to cut off Vegeta's tail.

This episode really didn't do a good job of holding my attention. It simply dragged things out way too much, such as Vegeta pounding Goku to no end. Sure it's probably a requirement to show Goku getting beat up, but not in the amount of time it did it. Plus, in what should have been ten seconds was more like two to three minutes. Kind of reminds me of the supposedly final five minute fight between Goku and Frieza that ended up lasting like three or four episodes that'll occur later on.moreless
