Turning any popular animated property into a live-action film is always a risky venture, but when the fan base is as fanatical as Dragon Ball's is, the film better have some sort of legitimacy.
The movie was officially announced in mid-November, but the names Justin Chatwin (who will play the main character Goku) and James Wong (director, Final Destination) didn't exactly impress.
Now it appears that Dragon Ball may have finally landed that big name it so desperately needed. Chow Yun-Fat has signed on to play Goku's mentor Master Roshi, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Let's not mince words, shall we? The Dragonball: Evolution movie sucks. This is a fact. It's not being screened for critics. It was written by a scab during the Writer's Guild strike. It has almost nothing to do with the original manga or anime. Plus, it's modeled after the goofier, less popular Dragonball instead of the more action-packed, insanely popular DBZ anyways.
