Japanese Title: Son Goku's Rival Appears!

First appearance of Krillin.

This episode begins the Tournament Saga.

Originally, when Krillin offered the magazines he had to Roshi, certain amounts of footage of what was on the magazine covers was cut, including a scene where Roshi was franticly going through the magazines only to accidentally find a Muscle Man magazine among the pile.

Krillin is one year older than Goku, he is 13.

The following scenes were cut from the US/UK/Canada versions: • Roshi pouring himself a glass of beer. • Certain body parts of the girls doing aerobics on Roshi's TV were seen reflected in his sun glasses. • A zoom-in shot of the Mermaid's breasts which Roshi was starring at.

They changed Kuririn's name to Krillin to preserve the pronunciation.

Krillin's name in the original japanese series is Kuririn.

Canadian Title: Goku's Rival!

This marks the first appearance of Krillin, who becomes Goku's best friend throughout his lifetime.
