“The Ox-King on Fire Mountain” see’s our hero’s go to fire mountain looking for the sixth Dragonball. They are followed by Yamcha. When they get there, they come across the Ox-King, but it turns out that Goku knows him. So to get the next Dragonball, Goku must help the Ox-King put out the flames on the mountain. Another journey begins…

Anyhow, the 7th Dragonball episode and I cant really say anything. Roshi turns up again at the end and that’s about it. We also see Pilaf get pissed off with his two spies. Its an ok episode, there aren’t many laughs, but there is a scene which I though was quite violent for a kids show- where a t-rex gets its head chopped off and blood sprits out. Again Bulma is in her Playboy attire. 7 out of 10

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

  • QUOTES (1)

  • NOTES (6)

    • Original Japanese Title: フライパン山の牛魔王 (Gyuumao of Mount Frypan)

    • Original Japanese Airdate: April 9, 1986 (7:00 – 7:30PM, Wednesday, Fuji TV)

    • Manga Correlation:
      - Chapter 011, "Gyuumao of Mount Frypan"
      - Chapter 012, "Asking Kame-sennin"

    • First appearance of Chi Chi and her father, The Ox-King.

    • Scene Edit: Around the scene where Goku tries to fly into the castle, there's a shot of Goku looking at Bulma from above. The Toei animators forgot to color in the legs of her pants in this shot, completely, so it appears as if she isn't wearing anything to cover up her lower body.

When FUNimation aired the episode, they caught this and colored the pant legs in.

    • Scene Edit: In the original Japanese version, Chi-Chi pushed Goku off the Nimbus Cloud because Goku touched her crotch to check whether she was male or female (it seems that the boy never learns...).

    • none: none
Chichi's helmet blade and subsequent ray-firing from the forehead is a direct reference to "Ultra 7" (the title hero had a boomerang-like blade on his head called the "Eyeslugger," and also shot rays from his forehead).
