- Chapter 008, "Yamcha Should be Afraid!!"
Scene Edit: While paddling away, Goku was originally seen urinating off the side of the boat.
Recurring Character Debut: Yamcha and Puar
Yamcha is a 16 year old desert bandit, whose special technique is the Wolf Fang Fist (roughly translated from the original "Rouga Fuu-Fuu Ken"). His one weakness is that he has an irrational fear of women.
Puar is Yamcha's partner in crime and was once Oolong's classmate at their local shape-shifting school. Like Oolong, Puar can transform into anyone and anything, though it is never clarified as to whether Puar is limited to maintaining his transformation for more than five minutes, like Oolong.
FUNimation refers to Puar as a female, but author/creator Akira Toriyama usually refers to the character as a male.
Scene Edit: Upon formally meeting Oolong, Goku pats his private area to check what gender he is.
Scene Edit: In the unedited version of this episode, after Oolong tries to get away by turning into a fish, Bulma lures him back by using, not a wad of cash, but a pair of women's underwear.
Goku: Wow, a fish full of dollars!
This FUNimation dub line refers to the Clint Eastwood Western movie given the US title Fistful of Dollars.
Name Pun: Like Oolong, Puar's name is a pun on a flavor of tea that goes by the same name.
