  • Notes

    • As with "Let's Start a Band," this episode was dedicated to Dragon Tales' fallen executive producer, Nina Elias-Bamberger. The dedication reads as follows: In Loving Memory of Nina Elias Bamberger

    • This episode was aired on many PBS stations at the end of a two-hour special called "Come Fly With Dragons." This special also included past episodes "To Fly with Dragons / The Forest of Darkness," " I Believe In Me / Bye, Bye Baby Birdie" and "Sky Pirates / Four Little Pigs". Quetzal appeared between episodes to talk about what was coming next and there were also scenes featuring real kids. This was the only Dragon Tales project, other than the special "Let's Start a Band!", in which real people were seen on-camera.

    • Gone this season: the tease "Coming up next on Dragon Tales," which had been used to start all earlier programs. Now the expanded underwriters' credits have discarded the tease.

    • The episodes for the third season feature a folk theme with folk music.

    • A new character, Enrique, is introduced in this episode. He's an only child of a single mother and moves in next door to Max and Emmy. He is soon introduced to Dragon Land.

    • First time that Dragon Tales breaks from format in a regular airing with a 22 minute story. This is not truly a 22 minute story, since it is still separated by a Dragon Tunes interstitial, but the second half picks up immediately where the first left off.

    • Dragon Tunes: "Make A New Friend" (Premiere!)

    • The second half of the episode is also known as "Mystery of the Missing Knuckerholes." However, the title display simply reads "To Fly With a New Friend, Pt. 2."
