A Contract Killing
AIRED:
The team is rocked by the stabbing, and it's touch and go for Tommy. Plus, could the wonderkid on the youth team really be Fletch's son? Paramedics rush Tommy to hospital who is very badly injured with what is later diagnosed as a punctured lung. Don can't believe his luck, one minute his team beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp and the next one of his key players have been stabbed. Tommy's condition betters and the doctors reveal that he is in a stable condition. Dean leaves the hospital with Sofia looking after Tommy and goes to see Fletch who immediately turns down Deans offer of returning to Harchester. Dean says that it's the least Fletch can do after he went to the press about Batistuta even thought there was nothing concrete in the deal, leaving Dean looking, once again - a fool. Tommy wakens in the hospital and all he wants to know about is the Juventus deal and how long he will be out for. Sofia tells him that they can talk about that later and that he must rest. The police arrive with questions and although Sofia tries to turn them away, Tommy reveals that it was Shay who did this to him. The police immediately arrest Shay and bring him in for questioning. The police know about Tommy having an affair with Shay's wife and know that Shay was spotted shouting abuse at Tommy during the Barcelona game. Shay holds up in front of the police and denies knowing about his wife playing away and says he has an alibi - drinking with his mates during the time Tommy was stabbed, and of course his mates back him up. Back in Harchester, Andy arrives at Dean's office with applications for Academy trials at Harchester. Whilst browsing through them, Dean comes across one that immediately catches his attention, a trialist named Byron Fletcher. Fletch heres the news back in Spain and immediately passes it off saying that its just something Dean has cooked up to get him to come to Harchester but Gina is adamant that they go and check it out. They both arrive at the Lair and Dean immediately thinks Fletch has had second thoughts and will sign but Fletch reveals he is only there to sort out the confusion surrounding a son that Fletch believes isn't his. Tommy is transferred to the hospital in Harchester and Sofia reveals to him that Shay has a concrete alibi. Tommy knows it was him and when some of the lads go to see him, he asks them to tell the police that they saw what Shay done to him but none of them feel comfortable with the idea. Fletch and Gina arrive at his supposed son's house and when the knock on the door and ask the little boy for Byron Fletcher, he immediately slams the door in their faces leading them to believe that perhaps Fletch does have another son. Fletch refuses to go and continues to knock on the door and when Byron's mum, Shanice wonders why her son won't let in the one and only Karl Fletcher, Byron reveals that he lied on his Academy form and told everyone that Fletch was his dad. Shanice lets Fletch and Gina inside and although Shanice wants to tell him the truth, after Fletch is rude to both of them she throws them out but not before revealing that the two of them did have a fling back in '92. After they leave all Fletch wants to do is get on the next flight back out to Spain but Gina suggests they go and see the son that Fletch definitely knows is his, Louie. Tommy is back at the grange and with Shay still walking the streets he has requested security, and lots of it and with that comes his personal bodyguard, Bow. Fletch and Gina arrive at the grange to meet Lynda's sister who is looking after Louie. Fletch goes in alone and is devastated when Louie blanks him. It gets worse when Louie calls out for his dad and Lynda's sister's partner arrives leaving Fletch feeling rejected by his own son. Tommy has a nightmare about Shay getting into his room to finish off what he started and as soon as Bo hears his screams he breaks into the room to find Tommy in a panic attack. Doctors arrive to calm him down and give him some pills. Tommy and Bow have a heart to heart and Tommy reveals that he can't stand living in fear and looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life and Bow reveals that he doesn't need to, and that he can get rid of Shay for Tommy. Curtis invites Fletch and Gina around for Christmas dinner and when Curtis and Ryan make jokes about Fletch's appearance and fitness he loses it and starts going on about how he was the best player Harchester has ever had and storms out. As they enjoy a quiet drink at the grange, Dean arrives with the contract ready to sign, but Fletch turns it down again. Tommy arrives at the Lair and Shay is outside protesting as he has been banned for life leaving people to think Tommy is behind it and making him look like a coward. It turns out that Dean has forced the ban thinking that was what Tommy would have wanted. Theres more bad news for Tommy as Dean reveals Juventus have pulled out of the transfer after the injury he sustained at the hands of Shay. Tommy comes to terms that his life has been ruined by Shay and orders Bow to get rid of him, for good. Shanice receives a call from Dean saying that Byron hasn't made the Academy and she knows its because of Byron's lie and thinks its best to come clean. Byron reveals that it wasn't only to Dean he lied to, but everyone at school too thinking that their could be a chance that Fletch is his dad after Shanice told him that she had been out with him. Byron goes to Fletch's room at the grange saying that he has been kicked out the Academy and begs Fletch to have a word with Dean to let him back in. Fletch upsets him and he runs off and Gina has had enough too and walks out on Fletch. Tommy has doubts over what he asked Bow to do but can't reach him on his phone. Shanice barges into Fletch's room and screams at him for upsetting her son. Shanice says it's not about the money, but for Byron to get into the Academy. She calls his bluff suggesting a DNA test and it works as Fletch refuses a DNA test and says he will get Byron back into the Academy. Fletch meets Dean for breakfast and Dean is still trying to get him to sign the contract. He even has a shirt printed with "Fletcher 11" on it but Fletch refuses to budge. He does however tell Dean to let Byron back into the Academy and Dean has no problems with that and they both set off for the match against Derby. Tommy still can't get a hold of Bow on his phone and decides to tell Sofia what he's done. They both set off for the control room and ask to zoom in on Shay's seat, at first the seat is empty but they are somewhat relieved as they see Shay taking his place in the crowd. As Fletch and Gina are about to leave Harchester for good, Byron bumps into them expressing his delight at being back in the Academy and the look on the kids face is enough for Fletch to make his mind up and sign for Harchester again and things get even better as Presley scores the opening goal against Derby.moreless
