AIRED:
It's the day of the FA Cup 5th round match against Southampton and it's a must win game for the dragons after going on a run of five games without a win and made even more difficult with the loss of Tommy Valentine. A group of die-hard fans gather outside the stadium in vans awaiting the signal to strike. That signal is given by Don, who seems to be behind this fans revolt and the group of 20 strong fans barge into the stadium grounds and lock the gates in protest over Eli's recent handling of team affairs. Reporters swarm the premises to shed some light on the situation and the fans demands are simple - either Eli and Dean find a suitable replacement for Tommy or no one goes in or out of the stadium, meaning the Southampton game could be in jeopardy. The team are not too happy that they are stuck inside the stadium for the time being and Viv tries to contact Chelsea. Lee tells the rest of the lads that Chelsea is not back and Viv is just imagining her. As suspected, Viv doesn't get an answer at home seeing as there is nobody there and he immediately thinks she has gone away again. As Lee sees Viv on the verge of a breakdown he pretends to phone Chelsea and hands the phone over to him. When Viv once again hears nothing from the other end. Viv wants to know what he was doing phoning his wife in the first place and flips. Dean gets on the phone to Eli to give in to the fans demands and ask for funds for another player to which Eli flatly refuses. Dean greets the fans at the front gates and takes the two ringleaders inside to talk things over. Dean sympathises with the two ringleaders, saying that he is also unhappy about the sudden sale of Tommy. He pleads with them to stop their protest and let the Southampton players in to play their cup game. They are adamant that they will not call off the protest until they get assurance of another player. Dean promises they will have a new player within a week. Bobby interrupts to tell Dean about Viv flipping out down in the players lounge and Dean immediately asks reception to get Naomi Whyatt to the stadium. Naomi and Dean arrive in the players lounge to find that the lads have locked Viv in a room on his own. Naomi goes in on her own to talk to the troubled goalie. After a talk, Naomi tells Dean that they have to get Viv out of there along with Lee - as he is the only one that can help get his life back to normal. She also tells him that Viv will need some time out of football to get his head straight. Dean knows that puts a huge dent in their promotion hopes but knows it is for the best. Dean is called into his office where Sofia is waiting for him. The FA have decided to postpone the game until midweek and this gives Dean and Sofia time to put in a few high profile bids for a few players in order to stop the protest, despite not having the money to back it up. Back at Studs, Viv settles back in and Naomi tells Lee that it is important to get Vivs life back to normal. Despite being edgy around Viv, not knowing when he will flip next, Lee agrees to do what is best for his mate. Lee and Viv bond over a game of FIFA and Lee retires to bed, but not before locking his bedroom door as a precaution. Dean and Sofia arrive at West Ham and tell the chairman that they want to make a bid for Midfielder, Nigel Reo-Coker. The Chairman is willing to listen to any reasonable offer but turns his nose up at the measly £100,000 bid made. Despite not winning over the Chairman with their bid, Dean confirms to the reporters that they have tabled an attractive offer but with the fans still protesting, the player just isn't interested in talking to them. The fans finally stop their protest relishing the prospect of having Nigel Reo-Coker at the dragons lair. The Chairman of West Ham phones up Don's office and tells him about the less than attractive £100,000 bid for one of their best players and accuses Don of trying to unsettle the player. As he hangs up on Don, he calls him straight back and tells the Chairman of West Ham that Harchester would like to increase the bid to £2M. The following morning, Gina reveals to Dean that West Ham have accepted his offer for Nigel Reo-Coker. Stunned that they would accept such a derisory offer, he is even more stunned when he sees the offer of £2M accepted. Don admits that he increased the bid as he thought it was a mistake. Don is called away after hearing that Viv has turned up for training, leaving Dean mulling over whether or not to go through with the bid as if he doesn't, not only will the fans be back protesting, but also he will get the blame for it all. Don gets t the changing room and tells Viv to take some leave. After kicking up a fuss, Viv comes across Naomi and asks her what he needs to do to get back playing. Naomi takes him aside in the physio room and calls Chelsea's mobile. She passes the phone to Viv. The real Chelsea makes Viv realise that she is not there and that she will not be coming back. She tells him that she has started divorce proceedings, which leaves Viv heartbroken. Back at his flat, Viv pours his heart out to Naomi, indicating that he is scared. He asks her to stay around for a while to help him get back to normal but she says he needs to get professional help. Dean makes a statement saying that he did not make the £2M bid for Reo-Coker and that manager, Don was not authorised to increase the bid. As a result of the breakdown of talks, fans once again protest - this time outside Eli's company headquarters. Eli releases a statement indicating that if they beat Southampton in the FA Cup, their next tie will be against Man Utd at Old Trafford, meaning a guaranteed gate receipts total of £500,000 to which Don will have to spend on a new player. As Don gets into his car, he is greeted by the two ringleaders who insist it is time he listened to them. They accept Eli's offer of £500,000 to spend on a new player and tell Don that he had better win the game against Southampton. Don is determined to get the win and goes to the grange to asks Gina to get Fletch on the phone and ask him to come back early to play. Fletch refuses saying that he didn't want him at the start and he'll be damned if he came back early to help Don out. Ryan is getting treatment by Bobby and Don takes him aside to ask if he will be able to play that night against Southampton, to which Bobby says it is too soon. Andy barges in to tell him that reserve goalie, Alex Lawler has injured his knee and the only replacement is under-19 goalkeeper Nathan Woods. Nathan arrives in the first team changing room and is welcomed by Don who is sure he can do a job for the first team. As Nathan rushes off to be sick in the toilets, Don has second thoughts and goes to collect Viv from his flat. The rest of the lads are unsure about Don's decision to bring him back so early. He is rude to the under-19 goalkeeper and gets stripped and ready for action. The game finally gets underway and Viv is on fine form, shutting Southampton out for the first half. As they settle in to the changing room at half time, Viv suddenly imagines a figure of Clyde in the changing room next to Lee and lashes out, causing Lee and injury to his leg. The rest of the lads take Viv down and he is taken into the physio room with Naomi to get calmed down. Nathan makes his debut in the second half and it is not one to remember as he lets in two early goals. The fans have seen enough and start fighting in the stands and invade the pitch. The riot spills out into the streets of Harchester and the club are sure to be punished as a result of their behaviour.moreless
