Episode Recap

The episode starts with Alex Tully on the side of the road with his broken down pickup truck just outside Gainsville, Florida, almost 400 miles away from the checkpoint (Rome, Georgia) that they have to get to before sun down. While Alex is working on the truck Corinna Wiles (Alex's partner) figures out that the ticket (the clue they got from the last checkpoint) has an address on it and that's where they have to go. While Alex is trying to fix his truck, Winston Salazar and his brother Sean Salazar zoom by. Winston looks behind and says "I knew that piece of crap they were driving wouldn't make it out of the state." Sean replies: "I'm surprised this one made it into state."

As they argue about the car, a mystery woman driving a Mustang passes them. Winston steps on the gas and starts following her. As Winston and Sean race up to the unknown driver, they pass Violet Trimble and her dad John Trimble. John has just woken up from his little nap in the backseat. He asks where they are and Violet replies "About 50 miles South of the Georgia border." Violet then starts asking John about his blackout he had at the last checkpoint. As Violet is worrying about him, John starts complaining about how fast she is going. Back outside of Gainsville, Alex and Corinna are still stuck. When things look like they couldn't get any worse, a police officer pulls up and arrests Alex, knocking him out and just leaving with Alex while Corinna stands there confused.

Outside of Valdosta, Georgia, about 300 miles to the next check point, Wendy Patrakas and her new partner Ivy Chitty are speeding down the highway. Wendy asks Ivy if she thinks her old partners (Susan Chamblee and Leigh Barnthouse) would be mad that she switched teams. Ivy says they weren't really friends and that they met in a hospital. They had to bring the patients to higher ground and Ivy helped them out. Meanwhile in Tifton, Georgia, about 250 miles away from the checkpoint, Rob Laird and his wife Ellie Laird stop at a gas station for a refill. They think that they are in the lead as Rob says "The only other racers I've seen were in my rear view a half hour ago." When Rob runs into the cafe to get something to drink he notices the news on TV: an army buddy of his had died in Iraq. Back at the broken down truck near Gainsville, Corinna is sitting in the truck. She finally decides to get out and start hitchhiking. Meanwhile, Winston and Sean are still driving. They seem to have lost the mystery driver, and Sean figures that the phrase "Admit One" on the ticket is a riddle and that they have to admit something. "Like the reason you were in jail." Winston snickers then says "Would you believe me if I killed a guy?" Sean replies that he would not. Then Winston says "Would you believe me if I said I was innocent?" Sean's reply is also "No." They both chuckle and Winston says "The state of Maryland didn't think so either." As they continue chatting Sean finds out that Winston knew about Sean his whole life but Sean never knew about Winston. Somewhere else Corinna got a ride to the police station. She runs in and asks that they release Alex. She tells them that an officer named Pool assaulted Alex. Meanwhile somewhere in an interrogation room Alex is being interrogated by the officer who arrested him. The officer claims that on July 12, 2003 in Kentucky, Alex killed some people in a bank robbery.

It turns out that Alex didn't actually kill them. He was the wheel man for the bank robbery, but he is as guilty as the killers. Alex denies it. It also turns out one of the victims was the officer's partner, Alex continues to deny it. The officer says he'll be here all day until he admits who he really is. Meanwhile Rob and Ellie speed down a highway, Ellie struggles to understand why Rob feels for his fallen ally. It turns out Rob went through training with him, He can't understand why he didn't get notified when he died. Rob asks for his phone, Ellie refuses to give it to him saying "Not when your going 92 miles an hour." They continue to argue. Ellie then throws the phone out the window, Rob slams on the breaks and pulls over. While that is happening Violet and John are driving down the highway and John gets a call from Violet's mom. John then remembers that Violet is supposed to be with her the next weekend. He says that he'll deal with it later. The two start chatting about Violet's mom. It turns out that Violet's mom left John some time ago. John says sarcastically "What am I suppose to say? 'Violet can't visit because we're in a secret illegal road race?'" Violet then decides to teach her dad how to lie. Meanwhile, Winston and Sean have just arrived in Tifton, Georgia, and stopped at a gas station for some gas. Sean runs inside to get some food and Winston starts filling up the car. To Winston's surprise, the mystery woman from before pulls up to the gas pump next to him. Winston flirts with the woman when she suddenly puts cuffs on him. It turns out she is a bounty hunter and she's taking Winston in because of failure to follow the terms of his parole. Sean comes out of the store, confused. Winston tells Sean to get to Rome before sun down. Winston then is pushed into the Mustang and is taken away.

Alex is still denying he did anything. Corinna is at the police station and learns that the computers say no one by the name of Alex Tully was taken in and there is still no sign of the officer who took him. Sean is sitting in the car, he pulls out a phone, calls someone, and tells them that they have 45 minutes to get to where he is. Rob is on the side of the road with Ellie looking for his phone. They are still arguing, Rob tells Ellie that he loves his allies like they are brothers as he finds his busted phone. They continue to argue. In the end, Ellie finally admits that she doesn't want Rob to go back to the army and that she doesn't want him to die. Rob hugs her and says sorry. Back at the police station Corinna gets word that the truck is missing. Officer Pool comes in the door, but it's not the same man who arrested Alex.

Meanwhile, outside Cecil, Georgia, about 270 miles to checkpoint, Violet is still trying to teach John how to lie. And in Tifton, Wendy and Ivy have just arrived at the gas station to refill. Wendy goes into the store for some food as Ivy refills the gas. To Ivy's amazement, a helicopter lands near the station. A man in a suit quickly comes out of the helicopter and runs inside. There the man finds Sean sitting near the door, and sits down across from him. Sean and the man start talking to each other. Sean finds out that his dad and the man were tracking them with the credit cards, and that's how the bounty hunter found them. Sean demands that the man makes the bounty hunter release Winston, saying "Bounty hunters aren't cops. Till she turns him over he is still in play. And if that happens dad's lost a son, and I don't mean Winston." Sean then stands up and tells the man that he has 20 minutes to give him his answer and that he will be heading north. Back in the interrogation room Alex still denies he did anything. The officer tells him to look in the mirror and maybe by the time he gets back Alex will know who he is. Right before the officer leaves the room Alex says "Wait, you want the truth? I'll tell you, I'll tell you everything." The officer sits back down. Alex finally confesses to everything saying that if he doesn't get out of that room, they may kill his wife and if he has to confess to this crime he will. The officer then laughs and says "Well it's about time." The officer then explains that if Alex wants to win the race, he has to be like he used to be. The officer picks up a chair and smashes the mirror. Through the mirror Alex can see his old getaway car. Alex notices that the whole room is just a set, and that the officer isn't a real police officer.

Back at the gas station, Wendy comes out of the store and notices that Ivy has taken the empty baby car seat out of the backseat. She demands that Ivy puts it back. Ivy refuses, saying its taking up too much space. Wendy then grabs Ivy's arm, tells her again to put the seat back in the car, and that she is never to touch it again. Ivy backs down and puts the seat back. Meanwhile, John has just gotten a call from Violet's mom. John looks at Violet, Violet nods, and John answers the phone. John lies, saying that he is going to a meeting in Seattle with Violet. It turns out it wasn't Violet's mom on the phone but John's doctor warning him that he needs to keep up with the medication or something bad might happen. John continues to act like he's talking to Violet's mom then hangs up. Back in the fake Police station, Alex struggles to understand why they did all of that and wasted his time. The fake officer says that he needed to get in touch with his old self, that "The old Alex Tully would be there already," and the officer hands him the keys. Alex then asks where Corinna is. The officer tells him that she's useless and that they will take care of her. Alex gets in the car and says it's not his. The officer goes to the open door and says "It's the same car." Alex then pulls a knife out of the glove department and places it on the officer's neck. Alex says "Oh, I guess it is mine." Alex asks again where Corinna is. At the real police station Corinna finally has given up and decides to leave. As she's walking down an alley, two guys trap her. Alex, in his new car, comes out of no where and tells Corinna to get in. She does, and they leave the two guys behind. Back on the highway, the bounty hunter is to the side and Sean pulls up behind her. She releases Winston. Winston doesn't seem too happy as he demands Sean to give him his keys. The two get in the car and drive off. Meanwhile Alex is speeding down the highway with a shocked Corinna as they pass every other driver and take the lead from Rob and Ellie. In Rome, Georgia at a old drive-in theater named "The After Sunset Theater," Alex pulls up to the ticket booth and hands a guy the ticket. Right behind him are Rob and Ellie who do the same thing. All the racers made it and found a parking spot. Everyone starts to watch the screen as the announcer says "Look to the screen before, pay close attention as this is something you don't want to miss." The screen shows a count down from 8, and right when the count down gets to 2, the episode ends.
