  • Long time coming... but worth waiting for.

Alex Tully (Nathan Fillion) shows a little of how he's changed for the better since his previous life of crime, saving his new pursuer (detective Ehrle) from death at the hands of one of his old contacts; a backstreet surgeon with an insatiable appetite for a slice of a good thing. Great characher building stuff that allows us more of a insight into the mind of an anti-hero that imperfect people can really get behind... wish there was more than one more episode to come. Incidentally, Detective Ehrle (Richard Brooks) also pursued Nathan Fillion and his crew once before, in the last episode of Firefly... as a bounty huter named Ehrle! Homage to the show was not lost on us all...moreless
  • This shouldn't have been cancelled.

This has to be one of the best episode of Drive so far. Mainly because of the final few minutes, minutes that really put a special touch in the show's heart. Adds way more emotion and feeling to the show, finally a bond is created with more characters than just Alex and his blonde sidekick.

One of the downsides to this show, and perhaps the only one in my eyes, is that some of the characters just don't appeal to me. The Katrina survivors for example, even though they aren't survivors anymore! But I guess that's just my problem.

Pops to Alex and his improv work in this episode. Not only did he save the cop, the kid, and the crook, but the way he did so was amazing. Using the improvisation skills of only the most adept standup comedians (and liars), this guy managed to turn the worst of situations into a winwin situation.

I suppose more racing would be welcome, this episode focused primarily on the shooting incident, which is more part of Alex' subplot, instead of the race in general. And it's the race that I love. I need more flashy cars and violent races!moreless

    • Wendy: You were a looter?
Ivy: I'm a survivor. Still am. You know. When nobody gives you a break, you take one. And when luck doesn't come your way you make your own. That's what a survivor does.

    • Wendy: You have all the power now, I acknowledge that. But you don't understand how much...
Ivy: How much you have to go to Bolton, Ohio, to pull your baby from the safe house, where you left him, before his big, bad daddy grabs him first? How many ways can I say: 'I don't care'?
      Wendy: Ivy...
      Ivy: I don't care?
      Wendy: Please...
      Ivy: I DON'T care!

  • NOTES (2)

    • Mircea Monroe and Riley Smith do not appear in this episode.

    • After the series was canceled in April, Fox first claimed they would air the two remaining episodes (The Extra Mile and Rear View) on July 4, then changed the air date to July 13, after all the TV Guides and newspaper TV Week booklets had already been printed with the erroneous information. Finally, Fox decided to not air the episodes at all, but made them available online instead on July 16.
