"Drive" is a well-driven series about people who are on a spped race from sea to shinning sea. Like the line goes in "The Cannonball Run." Well the show is like "The Cannonball Run" except it's more serious than you think. I like the cars going up the highway. it's better than the characters talking. The probaby too much talk in the show and I would like it more action and less talk. I'm also glad that one of the characters leave her baby behind. It's too much of a burden for a show to handle. Remember, Speed Kills! this show is no exception.moreless

  • FANTASTIC - Best pilot episode of 2007

    "Perfect"
This season has brought some excellent new shows, such as Heroes, Shark and Brothers & Sisters. On the evidence of its pilot episode, add Drive to that list. I just hope that Fox keep faith in it as this is a show which already has raised so many questions and seems to have endless possibilities.

The journey on this show is clearly going to be a major part of finding out what is going on, who is behind it all and why those involved were chosen. Taking those three elements, you can see parallels with Lost, although that is not a bad thing. I am already hooked on this show and looking forward to the exploration of the charaters and their situations, not forgetting the race itself and what is going to take place in order that the "contestants" survive to the next leg.

When you watch as much TV as I do you obviously develop favourites but it is always good to pick up a new show or format which keeps your interest going.

I'm buckled up for the ride.moreless

  • Being a guy, I love cars, and of course, racing goes with cars. I tuned in, and I liked what I saw.

Who doesn't love movies like Cannoball Run and RatRace? Ok, so not everybody, but I do. A tv series that is entirely one large race, but run in legs, kind of like Amazing Race? Sign me up! I like some of the actors from the premiere, specifically the firefly owner and the nerdy dad, the rest of them were new to me, and that can be a really good thing. Some fun stuff in this premiere, but not enough to really hook a person. Some are forced to race, others appear to be in it for fun. Being a racing guy, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of fantastic driving, but luckily the characters and their secrets, or pasts were enough to bring me in for the next episode.moreless

Well, they really pulled off the first episode. I thought it was going to be crap, but it turned out well. The introduction of the characters was mainly done through flashbacks, which added more to the characters, and made the show move along. Since they had to introduce all of the aspects and all of the characters they couldn't do too much with the overall stuff, but it was good. All of the racers are called to a meeting place and told the rules and are sent off to a location, a light house, and Tully meets a girl and a man trying to kill her. The lady with the baby, sorry I forgot her name, was last and was given a penatly. Overall, great start to a, hopefully, great season.moreless

  • Looks to be the hit of 2007

I love it and with the possible exception of Heroes this is my pick of the new shows for 2007. Combining elements of Prison Break, the Amazing Race and Smith there are so many different things happening and with the plot unfolding around you - there is a sense of being part of the action. If they can maintain this pace (excuse the pun) then it is the show I will be looking forward to each week.

The challenge of course will be how they can handle a second season a la prison break.

Bring it on, I will be watching !moreless

    • Goof: When everyone was leaving the hotel in Key West, many high-rise buildings can be seen in the scene, while there is only high-rise building on the island (the building is 6 stories). Edit
    • Last Place Penalty: Wendy Patrakas was given a gun to eliminate Ivy Chitty. Edit

    ADD NOTES
    • The lighthouse in Jupiter, Florida does indeed exist and is a local landmark, although it's not likely to be the one used in the scene. Edit
    • The Drive theme song is Can't Stop The World by Gavin Rossdale. He wrote it specifically for the series. Edit
    • The Jupiter Lighthouse, the first destination of the race, displays the "Minear Collection" of historical photographs. Tim Minear is co-executive producer of Drive. Edit

    • Alex: Where's Kathryn? Mr. Bright: Kathryn? Alex: My wife. Mr. Bright: Oh, right, you're wife.. Um, couldn't tell you. Alex: No, you're going to tell me. Mr. Bright: No, actually, I'm not. Edit
    • Mr. Bright: Mr. Tully, you're late. Not a very good way to start. Alex: Late for what? What is this? Mr. Bright: This was the orientation which you have now missed, you're feeling disoriented. It's only natural. Edit
    • (On the phone) Mr. Bright: Listen closely. I'm about to make you an offer, one that could change your life, but you must follow instructions to the letter or risk losing this opportunity. You'll not have time to consider it; you will not have to think-- only to act, for action now is what is required. In the next 15 minutes, you must be in your car and on the road. You will drive to Key West, Florida. It is essential that you drive, you may not fly, you may not take a train, you must arrive in a vehicle. You're going to the Wayfarer Hotel, proceed directly to the Ponce de Leon Ballroom, only there will you find the answers you seek. The moment of decision is upon you. Edit
