Episode Recap

The episode starts with Alex Tully racing on the highway, trying to block a blue Charger from overtaking him. He speeds through a small opening between two trucks, forcing the other car to break.
Flashback to one week before:

The police are searching Tully's house. Tully is injured and sitting in the middle of it. His wife, Kathryn, is missing. Detective Ehrle questions Alex as a suspect on her disappearance, as he sees no motive for someone else to kidnap Mrs. Tully. Alex notices a small gift - a present from his wife for their wedding anniversary.
A woman, Wendy Patrakas, is rushed through an Ohio hospital as she is going into labor. When one of the nurses suggests calling Wendy's husband Richard, she declines, saying that he is busy.
A couple of days later, Wendy and her newborn child are ready to leave the hospital, but the doctor wants to talk about the bruises she noticed on Wendy's body. But even though the doctor is pushing the issue, Wendy just states that she is clumsy and that's were the injuries come from.
In Maryland, Winston Salazar is released from prison. In his possessions he finds a new cell phone that does not belong to him.
He calls his wealthy father, but when the secretary learns that it is actually Winston on the phone and not his half-brother Sean, he's told that his father is not available. Just when he wants to throw the phone away, it rings.
Alex opens the anniversary present and hears a similar phone ringing.
Wendy checks the fruit basket she got in the hospital and finds a cell phone.
Winston and Wendy are told that they have to act immediately if they want to take the opportunity they get offered, while it is made clear to Alex that 'they' have his wife.
All three have to get in their cars and drive to Key West.
Alex arrives in the hotel in Key West and passes a blond woman who keeps watching him.
When Alex enters the ballroom, everybody is just leaving - he missed whatever presentation was going on. He catches the presenter, Mr. Bright, and, after some physical threats, learns that he is in a race, and the only way he'll see his wife again is if he wins the race. Alex's cell phone rings and gives him his first instructions: 'MAINLAND GO'.
Rob and Ellie are discussing the same clue when they bump into three women - Susan Chamblee, Leigh Barnthouse and Ivy Chitty. Also in the lobby are Mr. Trimble, and his daughter Violet as well as Winston Salazar. Wendy Patrakas just enters with her baby and some luggage.
The racers jump in their cars, start their engines and try to get into the lead of the race.
While driving, Alex's sister calls him, when at the same time the 'race phone' rings.
John Trimble can't find his phone in the car because Violet has it. She demands answers because she has no idea what is going on. Threatened by Violet to throw the phone out the window, he tells her about the race.
Wendy gets a call from her husband Richard, who canceled all her credit cards and tells her there are some charges made against her. A police car shows up in Wendy's rear mirror and she gets pulled over. The police officer tells Wendy that her car was reported stolen.
Winston gets into a fight with his father on the phone, who refuses to wire his son money. Winston floors the gas pedal and guns for his father's home.
The Charger rams Tully's car and forces Alex to stop at the side of the road. The driver of the Charges gets out of their car, drawing a weapon. Alex tries to re-start his Ford as the blond woman from the hotel, Corinna Wiles, enters the passenger seat and shouts: "Drive!" Alex finally manages to start the car and races away from the man with the gun. She tells him that the man's name is Bill and that he is her ex-boyfriend.
Ivy, Susan and Leigh try to figure out the latest clue: "Fly to Jupiter and find the red eye" when Rob and Ellie drive past them. Rob takes his radio and calls out to some truckers for help.
In the meantime, Wendy starts her car and drives away – leaving a stunned policeman behind.
Alex wants to throw Corinna out of the car, but she begs him to stay, at least until the next checkpoint. She tells him that she wants to find out about the people behind the race and that she knows about Kathryn's disappearance from the fliers he made. Suddenly the engine starts to make funny noises.
Multiple police cars try to catch Wendy's minivan and bring her to a stop. She is held at gunpoint while a female police officer opens the door to check on baby Sam – to reveal that there is no baby in the car - it's only a doll! Wendy tells them that this has to be a misunderstanding and that she has to get back on the road.
Winston arrives at his father's house and is ransacking the place, taking everything of value but is discovered by his half-brother Sean who waves a gun at Winston.
Rob's Firebird is racing alongside the three women with a couple of trucks in front of them. Rob forces the women's car to go between the trucks, were two more trucks move in, completely boxing in the car. Rob gets a call on the radio from the truckers that they are glad to give a war veteran some assistance.
At that time they figure out the clue: Jupiter Lighthouse, Florida, a four hour drive.
Sean keeps the gun at Winston, and takes the phone in order to call the police. When he takes his eyes off his half-brother for a moment, Winston grabs the gun. He tells Sean that they are brothers and that it's in his right to take the loot. Sean has never heard of that and doesn't believe one word.
Alex tries to repair the car at a station and tells Corinna to get lost. She tells him that no one can win the race alone, that he needs her and to prove that she deciphers the clue for him. Corinna leaves for the bathroom when the Charger rolls into the station. Bill enters the bathroom and slams Corinna into a wall. He searches her for something she took from him. Alex appears in the bathroom and knocks Bill out with a wrench. Alex gets his papers and his name isn't Bill but Alan. He requests the truth from Corinna who tells him that 'Bill' works for the people behind the race. She also tells him that she has a flash drive with encrypted information about the complete race – including the finishing line!
Sean and Winston call their father, who admits that Winston is his son. Winston, seeing how pissed Sean is about his father never telling him about his family, makes Sean an offer to tag along for the race.
Wendy is at the police station when her husband enters and takes her. When they are in her van, she swears that she didn't tell the police anything about the race. The man, Brad, who is obviously not her husband, smiles and tells her to get going and not to get to the checkpoint last, because being last is really bad.
Alan is tied up to a toilet seat, and gagged with duct tape. Alex shows him the flash drive to see if Alan recognizes it. When he does, Alex knocks him out.
Alex and Corinna go past the pick-up and climb into the Charger. Alex smiles at his co-pilot shifts the gear, floors the pedal and the car does nothing. They are back in the pick-up in the dark, racing towards the lighthouse. Winston and Sean try to pass them but Alex blocks them to keep the lead. Both cars race towards the finishing line side by side.
While Corinna and Winston discuss who was first, Alex mounts a small hill and sees a lot of cars already parked at the lighthouse.
Some time later, Wendy arrives at the finishing line where Mr. Bright is already waiting for her with an envelope. She finished last and now gets a penalty for the next leg of the race. She takes the envelope, which contains a gun and two photos of Ivy. Mr. Bright closes with: "Let's call it an elimination round."
