    • Goof: The opening sequence shows the racers heading North on US1, leaving Key West. US1 never has two lanes heading in each direction. It is usually just one lane in each direction with a speed limit of 45. There are also many stoplights.
    • Goof: When everyone was leaving the hotel in Key West, many high-rise buildings can be seen in the scene, while there is only high-rise building on the island (the building is 6 stories).
    • Last Place Penalty: Wendy Patrakas was given a gun to eliminate Ivy Chitty.
    • Checkpoints: Key West Florida - Ballroom in Key West Hotel. Jupiter, Florida - Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse.
    • The list of Main Character's Cars: Alex Tully - 1972 Ford F-100 Wendy Patrakas - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT John Trimble - 1999 Ford Taurus Emma Stone Rob Laird - 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Kevin Winston Salazar - 1964 Chevrolet Impala lowrider Leigh Barnthouse - 2006 Land Rover LR3
    • Goof: The highway on which the first leg of the race is shot clearly has mountains visible in the background in many shots. Anyone even vaguely familiar with the state of Florida would know that Florida is an exceedingly "low" state, with a highest point of 345 feet above sea level and a mean elevation of 98 feet. In other words, there are no mountains of any kind whatsoever.
    • The "Missing" poster handed to Tully by Mr. Bright reads "Last seen on April 12, 2007," and Tully last saw Kathryn at least 7 days ago. But, this episode first aired on April 15th, 2007, only three days after the date on the poster.

    • Alex: Where's Kathryn? Mr. Bright: Kathryn? Alex: My wife. Mr. Bright: Oh, right, you're wife.. Um, couldn't tell you. Alex: No, you're going to tell me. Mr. Bright: No, actually, I'm not.
    • Mr. Bright: Mr. Tully, you're late. Not a very good way to start. Alex: Late for what? What is this? Mr. Bright: This was the orientation which you have now missed, you're feeling disoriented. It's only natural.
    • (On the phone) Mr. Bright: Listen closely. I'm about to make you an offer, one that could change your life, but you must follow instructions to the letter or risk losing this opportunity. You'll not have time to consider it; you will not have to think-- only to act, for action now is what is required. In the next 15 minutes, you must be in your car and on the road. You will drive to Key West, Florida. It is essential that you drive, you may not fly, you may not take a train, you must arrive in a vehicle. You're going to the Wayfarer Hotel, proceed directly to the Ponce de Leon Ballroom, only there will you find the answers you seek. The moment of decision is upon you.
    • Corinna: Corinna Wiles. And you are? Alex: Angry!
    • Violet: Okay, spill it. John: Violet, give me the phone. Now! Violet: No. Tell me what's going on. Are you like running from the law or something? John: Violet, I'm losing patience. Give me the damn phone! Violet: No! You know what? Tell me what is going on, tell me right now or I toss it. (Holding the phone near the window) John: Violet... Violet: I am not joking. Here it goes, I'm letting it go. John: It's a race! A race.
    • Narration: There are five hundred million cars worldwide. Over half in the US alone. And for as long as there have been cars, there has been the race. Secretly moving across America's roads and highways, it may be happening around you now. So the next time some jerk cuts you off on the way to work, give him some slack. They could be racing for their lives.
    • John: Change of plans. Can't stay here; too expensive. I should've planned this trip better, honey. I'm sorry. Violet: Dad, you were giving me a ride home from school and we ended up on the exact opposite coast from where we live. What part was ever planned?
    • Mr. Bright: If you're not on the road in the next 15 minutes, we'll know; if you contact anyone, we'll know; if you go to the police, we'll know - and you will never hear from us again.
    • Corinna: Look, there it is. We're gonna make it. It's like a beacon drawing us close. Alex: Lighthouses aren't supposed to draw you close. They're supposed to warn you away from rocks and danger.
    • Corinna: How do you cheat at a game that has no rules? Alex: I don't know! ...I missed orientation.
