  • Grayson deserves this ending.

I have been following this series from the very beginning and found its heroine a refreshing change from the typical character types in most TV series. However i find the message the writers are trying to send is confusing at best. For the most part, it's saying that we should not judge a book by its cover, that brain is as appealing as beauty, and that big girls can have fun and find love too. But the main male character of the series - Grayson - the kind sensitive guy that the writers obviously want the viewers to root for, is likely the most shallow person on the show! Isn't this a terribly conflicting message? For 3 years, Grayson kept getting closer to Jane, constantly seeing her "Deb-ness" on a daily basis, and yet it's almost like just because Jane is so physically different from the blonde model type that it never occured to him to be attracted to her or see her as a potential girlfriend, the most they could be was good friends. Isn't the concept of soulmates suppose to surpass physical appearances? In the meantime, Grayson basically spent all his energy chasing and kissing every other dumb blonde in his immediate vicinity while Jane pines for him in secret. I started the series completely rooting for the Grayson-Jane relationship to happen, but when it became clear how superficial Grayson was, i stopped. In this season 3 finale, Grayson kissed Stacy because duh, another pretty dumb blonde that reminded him of Deb. Then Stacy drops the bomb and tells him that Jane is Deb, and suddenly bingo - what?! All this time Deb was right under his nose and he couldn't see past the outer package to the inner soulmate, but now that Stacy spilled the beans, it must be true so he must chase after her! It's the easy way out, and it's like saying that since Deb is inside of Jane, he can now finally grasp the feasibility of a relationship with Jane DESPITE the vast difference in appearance. Definitely a shallow character, Grayson completely doesn't deserve Jane, hence i think it's a very fitting ending when Grayson didn't manage to get on the plane and Jane ended up flying off with Owen, who although is not my favourite love interest for Jane, is at least in love with Jane for exactly who she is right now, unlike Grayson who is only chasing after the ghost of Deb. I understand that the writers wouldn't want Grayson to be with Jane that quickly because then there would be no show left, but 3 years is a long time and it didn't help that Grayson proved consistant in going for looks with all his love interests. Grayson's character needs to be developed better and more in alignment with the show's generally good intentions if the writers want viewers to support the Grayson-Jane angle again, and if there IS a next season i hope they manage it. Otherwise i think Jane is better off where she is right now - with Owen.moreless

It was a great episode and I loved everything until now. But how could they do this to me? I've been watching the show for a reason. They aren't really going to leave it here are they? Please, please, please, with a cherry on top, tell me there's going to be another season.
