  • A nice push of the show's themes with some good character development.

    7.5
The pilot was good but this episode really pushes the theme of the show well. Having to represent a fat person brings the whole "Deb in Jane" dynamic to the forefront and did so quite well. Elliott was great wrestling with Jane's feelings, not just on the present but her behavior in the past as well. Also good was the relationship with Stacy who at first seemed to want the old Deb back but her confession that she's afraid of being left behind by her now much smarter friend was a great twist. That she's just as biased against because of her looks as Jane is a nice item to throw in and the end closing was good too.

The second case wasn't as interesting but nice to see Jane and her old flame connecting again. Overall, a good second episode that shows the real charm of the show and Elliott makes it work quite well so here's hoping it goes on.moreless
  • You are so not BLONDE! Okay, this show is surprisingly good. Brooke Elliott's Jane is NO plain Jane. If you aren't checking this out because it's on LIFETIME and you think it's going to be cheesy and poorly done, think again.moreless

You are so not BLONDE! Okay, this show is surprisingly good. Brooke Elliott's Jane is NO plain Jane. If you aren't checking this out because it's on LIFETIME and you think it's going to be cheesy and poorly done, think again. The dialogue is witty, sharp and surprising at times. How many network shows can you write that about? Margaret Cho is solid as the assistant trying to adjust to new Jane. This show has some powerfully touching moments. Sometimes the strongest moments are cut short, but it's a good show. If it continues to grow, as this second episode has, it will become a well watched program.moreless
