Drug Runners

Show Summary

Drug Runner is a 2003 documentary that follows the life of an actual drug runner living in the outskirts of Manchester. Steve, a drug runner arrested during a police raid, gains his freedom after spending 12 months in prison. He accepts an offer from an anonymous person to film a day of his life as a drug runner which he calls a "video diary" of his own. Steve admits he started in the drug trade when he was 11 years old and has been a heroin and cocaine user since he was 15. In this documentary, Steve is shown regularly puffing cracked cocaine or giving a hypodermic needle containing 50 micrograms of heroin to a prostitute in his flat. He then takes the cameraman along with him around Manchester and Liverpool as he obtains a kilo of heroin worth 15,000 pounds from an unknown supplier. Interviews from actual drug users are presented describing the effects of drugs on their minds. Drug Runner shows how a drug runner makes a living by selling drugs in the streets and funds his own drug habits from the income he earns as a drug runner.
