In "K-9 Quarry," Dodgers says that 'the Martian gets one episode per season'. At this point, this was true, as there had been an episode focusing on X2 and K9 in season 1. However, there wasn't in season 3.
Rikki: Maninsuit is usually a kind and gentle creature.
(Maninsuit destroys train and starts eating it)
DD: Yeah, he's a regular Mother Theresa.
X-2: Excellent! Once that monster destroys this planet, Mars' electronics will be in high demand!
Centurion: Sir, who are you talking to?
X-2: I was just talking to them ... out there ... in the darkness.
Centurion: Oook.
X-2: This is going perfectly!
Centurion: (to other Centurion) He believes he has some sort of audience.
(Watching "K-9 Quarry" on his TV)
DD: Don't blame me - the martian gets one episode per season.
DD: Yes, our job here is done, but in another way, it shall never be done. Whenever you see a rubber monster attacking a city ... I'll be there. Whenever you see a cop beatin' up old ladies ... I'll be there. Whenever you see a kid crying himself to sleep because his temper tantrum didn't yield a new video game ... I'll be there. Just say my name and ... I'll be there.
The Alien Hunter's secret identity is Wile E. Coyote.
The hero of "The Menace of Maninsuit" bears a striking resemblance to the japanese anime character, Astro Boy.
The cartoon characters in the Alien Hunter's collection were Wally Gator, Yogi and Boo-Boo Bear, Hong Kong Phooey, and Top Cat.
"The Menace of Maninsuit" is "Chapter: 05.27"; "K9 Quarry" didn't have a chapter number.
DD: I'll be there . . .
Duck Dodger's "I'll be there" speech is an obvious parody of Tom Joad's speech near the end of Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" (the speech occurs near the middle of Chapter 28; "Wherever there's a fight so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Whenever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there" etc)
X2: Either Busby Berkeley planted this forest, or I don't know my own strength.
The trees appear to be falling in a manner reminiscent of the choreography of Busby Berkeley, who was famous for directing the dancing in many musicals in the 1930s and '40s.
X2: K9, I don't know what's gotten into you watewy. We came here to have a wewaxing -- I mean, a relaxing weekend."
X2 is sounding much like Elmer Fudd here, and this episode has many references to old Warner Bros. cartoons, including the squirrel saying "Now I know why Bugs Bunny turned this cameo down"; and after X2 says that he prefers his enemies of the feathered variety, Wile E. Coyote holds up a sign that says "ME TOO!"
Character: Godzilla
The appearance and sounds of Maninsuit are more than similar to Godzilla.
n/a: Japanimation
The animation, dialogue and characters are puns of anime and Japanese movies.
