    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Double-O-Duck was supposed to be Darkwing's original name before they finally settled on Darkwing Duck. Incidentally, Launchpad stars as Darkwing's sidekick.

      • What, exactly, happens to Oddduck? He just disappears from the episode completely after Launchpad and Feathers give him the slip.

    • QUOTES (4)

      • (Launchpad is captured and interrogated by Dr. Nogood)
Dr. Nogood: I've been wondering when you'd show up. A very good likeness of Bruno Von Beak, I must admit. Who are you spying for?
Launchpad: You can threaten me, you can torture me, but I'll never snitch on the D.I.A.!
Dr. Nogood: The D.I.A., huh? What do you think of that, Flower?
(Flower, Nogood's cat, hisses at Launchpad)
        Dr. Nogood: I agree.

      • Dr. Nogood: Soon the world's money supply will be ruined. In just a few hours, my troopers will break into Swiss banks from underground tunnels, spray their vaults of money with patented ink vanisher that'll make all that money nothing but worthless blank paper! I'll wreak havoc with the world's money supply! My private stockpile of gold will make me the richest man in the world! And-- And-- Why do I have this sudden craving for pickles?!

      • Operator:Duckburg Intelligence Agency.
Launchpad:This is Double-O-Duck. I've found Dr. Nogood's headquarters! Send your troops to--
(Launchpad hears Dr. Nogood and Oddduck approaching)
        Launchpad: Oops!
Operator:Is that Oops Avenue, or Oops Street?

      • (Scrooge tries to dissuade Launchpad from joining the D.I.A.)
Scrooge: Don't do it, Launchpad, it sounds too risky.
        J. Gander: But Dr. Nogood is planning to destroy the world's money supply!
Scrooge: Nothing's too risky when it comes to money! Where does he sign up?

    • NOTES (3)

    • ALLUSIONS (6)

      • J. Gander Hoover: You are the only one who can stop F.O.W.L.'s leader, the infamous Dr. Nogood.
Dr. Nogood's name is an obvious spoof of Dr. Julius No, the villain from the first James Bond movie, Dr. No. Incidentally, Nogood's owning a pet cat is a reference to James Bond's arch-enemy Ernst Stavro Blofeld, while his plan to wreck the world economy and increase the value of his private stockpile of gold, is a reference to another Bond villain, Auric Goldfinger.

      • Spy: Hold it, buster. J. Gander Hoover wants to see you.
The name of J. Gander Hoover, the director of the D.I.A., is a reference to J. Edgar Hoover, the real-life former director of the FBI. Incidentally, this spoof would be recycled for Darkwing Duck in J. Gander HooTER, the director of S.H.U.S.H.

      • Feathers Galore: Maybe you forgot the magic words, Dorothy.
The manner in which Launchpad activates his elevator shoes, by clicking his heels together, is a reference to The Wizard of Oz.

      • Dr. Nogood: Anyone who spies for the D.I.A. should meet my other pets. Oddduck?
The name of Dr. Nogood's silent bodyguard is a spoof of Oddjob, one of the villains in the James Bond film Goldfinger. Like Oddjob, Oddduck even wears a black bowler (although he never throws it).

      • Announcer: Ladies, gentlemen, and snake charmers, please give a real big hand to Miss Feathers Galore!
"Feathers Galore" is a reference to the James Bond film Goldfinger's leading lady, Pussy Galore.

      • Launchpad: If that chopper leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life. Here's lookin' at you, Feathers.
Launchpad is quoting the ending of "Casablanca".
