When Fraser and Ray call the precinct, Ray calls Lieutenant Welsh "Captain".
Ray Vecchio and Stella Kowalski "meet" here and are instantly attracted, but Episode 11 (Dead Guy Running) referred to a case the two had worked on together (the perp of which was the titular Dead Guy).
The final two episodes were supposed to revolve around the character of Victoria, but Melina Kanakaredes (who played Victoria) was unavailable for filming.
When Fraser and the others are leaving the movie theater at the beginning, the marquee announces the movies showing are Dead Guy Running, Good for the Soul, Burning Down the House and Seeing is Believing. These are all titles of previous episodes.
Goof: When Fraser is talking to his father, before Francesca tries to capture him under the mistletoe, a man at the station walks past the two mounties. In order to get between Fraser's father and the wall the man turns sideways. If Fraser's father is a ghost and can't be seen by the man, it makes no sense that the man would try to avoid walking into him.
Fraser was looking at adoption papers in this episode, regarding Thatcher asking him to help her adopt a child.
The menu items discussed in the restaurant are names of hockey players that were active when the episode first aired: Tie Domi (Toronto Maple Leafs), Teemu Selanne (Anaheim Mighty Ducks), Esa Tikkanen (New York Rangers), and Pavel Bure (Florida Panthers).
The German Paul Gross speaks impersonating Francesca Vecchio's German admirer is in no way correct, neither in word order in the sentences nor in in pronunciation or the use of articles.
Goof: After Fraser jumps through the fire. His coat is on fire and there is clearly a patch of it on the back that is burnt before he drops it on the floor. In the next scene Fraser is wearing his coat once more and, when we get a glimpse of the back of it, it no longer has a burnt patch on it.
The character name of Aaron Gobrah is a homonym for 'Erin Go Braugh', which means 'Ireland forever' in Gaelic.
When Fraser puts the tape into the VCR, the tape doesn't go all the way in and is still sticking out when he walks around the coffee table. He then hits play and the video starts without a problem.
Goof: Welsh wears a left cast shoe on his right foot.
Dief follows Fraser's hand, and it's like Draco was looking for some treats.
In this episode Ray is very uncomfortable with the dead body. In a later episode, Dead Guy Running, he doesn't seem to have a problem.
The Licence Plate on Ray Kowalski's car (RCW 139) is used on many cars over the course of the series. Beside the use in Due South (1994), it used in I Coulda Been a Defendant and Bounty Hunter for Ray's silver Dodge Intrepid, and in season 4 in Mojo Rising, on a car that Ray suspects to be his GTO but luckly isn't, and in Dead Men Don't Throw Rice, on the bronze 1984 Crown Victoria with which the bodies are transported.
About 39:30 minutes in, when Fraser throws a knife and the camera swings back on him, you can see that the knife is still in his hands and he quickly hides it behind his back.
About 7:30 minutes in, in the beginning of the scene in which Fraser and Ray drive Stella and Orsini home at night, you can see a reflection of Draco's (Diefenbaker's) trainer in the car window.
Less than 1 minute in, Ray wants Fraser to hurry up and makes robotic movements with his hands. This clip is also used in the opening credits but, there, the image is flipped. The number on the building in the background is 100 in the episode and looks like 001 in the credits.
This is the third time that Fraser is more or less involved in the destruction of Vecchio's beloved Buick Riviera. His first one was shot at and blown up in the episode The Man Who Knew Too Little, the second one was wired with a car bomb that killed Louis Gardino in Juliet is Bleeding, and now the Buick is again blown up and driven into a Lake Michigan.
The opening scenes of this episode mirror the very beginning of the series in the pilot episode of Due South (1994). Both show Benton Fraser in Canada and his pursuit of a criminal. The crimes are rather ludicrous, 1994 it was overfishing, 1997 it is polluting. In both cases he catches the criminal, and receives bad news when he brings them in. In the pilot, he learned about the death of his father, here, he gets a call from Ray Vecchio, indicating that something is wrong and that their partnership comes to an end.
