  • When Bo becomes the star attraction of a stunt show, the female owner comes between the cousins...

On the whole this was a pretty average, just-the-usual kinda storyline for the dukes. Until the end that is. Im far too young to have seen this show when it was first on in the 80s but having watched re-runs im hooked. The end of this episode was...whats the word im looking for...different and exciting (at least as exciting as the Dukes of Hazzard can be). This being the first time i had seen Carnival of Thrills i was so shocked when Bo hit Luke!! I couldnt believe it because the characters were so close, it was so unexpected. However Daisy\'s \"Bo stop it! Uncle Jesse make em\' stop! Theyre hurting each other!\" was bordering on annoying and Jesse getting out his shot gun was just funny (i dont think it was supposed to be though.

The scene immediately after that with Jesse talking to Bo when he was leaving the farm was quite touching. I think it was the tears in Bo\'s eyes that did it and the line something to the effect of just remember i love you.

Then it went back to same old dukes....

So out of the two hours of the two parter there was an exciting 2 mins at the end of part one and and exciting...maybe 10 mins at the start of part two. The rest was just good old Hazzard fun.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • This story was adapted for the classic children's "3D camera" toy ViewMaster. As second set, from the fourth season episode "Pin the Tale on the Dukes", was later released.

    • When Bo makes a practice leap using one of the carnival cars, he takes off in a Pontiac, but lands in a Dodge.

    • When Enos get knocked out at the junkyard when Bo, Luke, and Cooter are trying to get the General Lee back he is supposed to be unconcious and when Daisy is trying to wake him up you can see Enos's eye's snap open and then shut again.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Daisy: Hey, Bo, take my Jeep.
Bo: What's wrong with General Lee?
Luke: Nothing, I hope. But if you're planning on jumping him over 32 parked cars, I'm gonna take him over to Cooter's and check the timing.
      Bo: Thanks a lot, y'all. Buh-bye!
Luke: And I'm gonna check his checking of the timing, and then I'm gonna check his checking of my checking of the timing and...
Daisy: And I'm gonna check you both.

    • Uncle Jesse: That there is the best crawdad bisque I ever did make. I'm liable to have to charge you $100 of your prize money just for a bowl.
Luke: You better pour it back in the pot, then. My rich cousin turned down the prize money.
Uncle Jesse: Why would you do a foolish thing like that?
Daisy: So he can do something more stupid on Saturday.
Luke: Like jumping over 32 parked cars.
Uncle Jesse: How do you plan to do that? You gonna get an airplane or are you just gonna let Maudeen the mule kick you over?

    • Luke: He's some driver, ain't he, Bo?
Rosco: You boys will shape up when I put you in the slammer for speeding.
Bo: Rosco, you're wrong again. We're sitting on private property. You can't ticket us here.
Luke: If you're so dead set on arresting somebody, you ought to run yourself in. You're trespassing on Jeb Tompkins' land. He ain't never lost too much love for you.

    • Luke: Did it ever occur to you that she might be playing you for a sucker?
Bo: Listen, Luke, I don't have to take that from you. I don't have to take that from anybody. You're just lucky that we're in Uncle Jesse's house, that's all!
Luke: Well, you're unlucky 'cause we can always step outside.

  • NOTES (1)

    • Although the original airdates can suggest it to be part of the 3rd season, this story is in fact a belated 2nd season adventure (tell-tale signs of this are Enos still being present, Cooter still having a beard, and Rosco not yet having Flash the dog).
The DVD releases feature it as the first third season story; as with "Uncle Boss" (held over from the second to the third) and "The Fugitive" and "Dukescam, Scam" (held from third to fourth), this story is actually a left-over from the previous season.
