The Dukes of Hazzard

Season 3 Episode 3

Enos Strate to the Top

Aired Friday 8:00 PM Nov 05, 1980 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • When Daisy, Bo and Luke are run off the road about half way through the episode, the pick up truck flips and the roof completely caves in on one side (the side Bo is sitting at). How did they survive never mind not get hurt at all? There isnt even a scratch on them and Bo just climbs out the window.

    • Boss reveals that Cletus is his second cousin, twice removed.

    • In this episode Rosco refers to Flash as he. However, in later episodes, Flash is refered to as she and Bo often calls her girl. (This could be explained partly due to Rosco's stupidity)

  • Quotes

    • Enos: I'm not in a hurry to get outta town, Bo. I love Hazzard. It's just that...well, Mr. Hogg fired me, effective Friday.
Luke: He what? What possessed him to do a stupid thing like that?
Enos: I told him and Sheriff I wasn't gonna take part in no more dirty tricks to frame y'all.

    • Luke: We'd best head over to the junkyard and see if we can pick us up a new fender.
Bo: The way you drive, we better pick up a new right quarterpanel, a left quarterpanel...
      Luke: All right, all right.

    • Luke: Rosco, we'd like a word with you about Enos.
Rosco: Which word would you like? Hockey-puck? Butterfingers? Or just plain old dipstick?

  • Notes

    • This episodes contains the first reoccurring appearance of Hazzard's elderly, motorcycle-riding postmistress, Miz Emma Tizdale (Nedra Volz), though she is only credited as 'Postmistress' on the credits of this episode.

    • As an outcome of Ben Jones's fall out with the studio last season over how unshaven his character should be, from this season Cooter is seen clean shaven. The character would keep the appearance for the rest of the show's run.

    • At the suggestion of James Best, from this season Rosco has a dog, a lazy basset hound called Flash (who always barks at Boss Hogg but likes the Dukes).

    • Rick Hurst joins the regular cast as Deputy Cletus Hogg (seen in several episodes previously). He takes Sonny Shroyer (Enos)'s place on the opening credits. For this episode, Shroyer is billed with the guest cast.

    • This episode acts as a Pilot for the spin-off series Enos. Enos (Sonny Shroyer) is written out at the end of the episode. He would return at the start of the 5th season after Enos was cancelled after one season.
