  • Hard Luck Jones has always had “hard luck” when it came to moonshining. But with luck that bad and a machine big enough to make the first movable still in Hazzard County, how can he pass that up? When it was an APC, the Dukes wish he would have.moreless

One of my personal favorites! Hard Luck Jones has been caught again by a revenuer, but has a lucky break when Bo and Luke blow up the evidence. Jesse tries to persuade Hard Luck to hang up the still and come on over to the legal life with him and the boys. But Hard Luck has a hard time letting go and steals Boss’ war memorial: an APC. Now it’s up to Bo and Luke to return the APC before someone else finds it. Thank goodness for Luke’s Marine experience!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • When Rosco takes off after the Dukes, who are in Cooter / LB's pickup, he is wearing his blue Sheriff's shirt. However, when his car crashes off the road into the pond, he suddenly has his black Sheriff's jacket over his shirt - the footage was lifted from an earlier episode! When he returns to the Boar's Nest, the jacket is gone again!

    • When the APC crashes into the side of the Boar's Nest at the conclusion of this episode, the interior is clearly a mock-up of Boss Hogg's back room - the room is much smaller than usual, and when Miller and Flint fall onto the wall, the wall moves, revealing it to be flimsy plywood.

    • This episode is notable for a role reversal with the Duke boys. Luke does most of the driving and Bo does the crazy stunts like diving from a moving car. One thing how did Bo learn to drive the APC?

    • At the end of this good episode, there is sadly one goof. When the brakes of the APC fail, luke says, "everybody bail out". In the following shot you can see that all 5 passengers jump out of the vehicle, but in the next shot you see the "empty" APC running, but someone is still throwing cigarettes out. Its a very short scene, but the APC had to be empty.

  • QUOTES (3)

  • NOTES (2)

    • In this episode Boss and Rosco are discussing the contraband cigarettes in the office in the Boars Nest very loudly, as they do in every other episode. So why does no one in the Boar's Nest ever hear about Boss's money making scams?

Editor's note: Maybe the patrons in the Boar's Nest were/are too snockered to care.

    • This episode marks the final appearance of Cooter's cousin L.B. Davernport, before Ben Jones returned to the series. Naturally, as suddenly as L.B. appeared in the series, he disappears again, and is never mentioned again.
