Calling all Dukes of Hazzard fans!! It's a showdown between the original television series and the upcoming movie! Which do you think is better and why?

I think the TV show will be better, because it set the precedent of what the movie is trying to be. One can argue that the technology has improved so they can make the movie better, but I believe you just can't beat the classics, and movie remakes of the classics don't usually touch the same spirit and soul. Regardless, the movie may have potential, but just the old series was unique, though of course, before my time, but from what I've seen of the reruns, it was amazing, and I don't think the movie will be able to top that.

Though, the Dukes of Hazzard video games all did horrible, so at least the movie will definately do better than those.

0_0 Excuse me? Movies? I saw an interview with the original (somebody) and they said they hate the new movie, because they sleezed it up from the family-friendly TV show, and I have to agree. Every scene I've seen in the ads for this movie is a sex-related joke...

Boy is this topic a colossal waste of time. Why even bother posting it? The only movie based on a TV series that was ever any good was The Fugitive and that was because it respected the original series. Dukes doesn't. They've turned the entire Duke family (with the possible exception of Uncle Jesse) into a bunch of redneck morons.

it was the original Cooter who spoke against the movie because of how they trashed it up. It's just one sexual induendo after another seems like from the promos. Then again what do you expect when you pick a bunch of MTV morons and a s*** pop singer to play a bunch of good 'ol country boys. The one thing that this horrible movie has done is get me reinterested in the original series after 15 or so years of not seeing it.

How can you even compare the two. The title and the car is all they have in common. It is hard to compare a good ole southern themed show to a jackass and a dumb blond smokin drinkin and trying to act country!

Ben Jones, the original Cooter Davenport, said that the only thing that the original TV series and the new movie have in common is their name and the General Lee. He also stated that the new movie is "trashy". I agree 100%. The original series taught moral and family values and watching the previews and reading ads about the movie shows me that the movie is a disgrace to the name of "The Dukes Of Hazzard".

I am just thouroughly disgusted with the movie in general. Several problems with it.

    1. Jessica Simpson is blond. Daisy Duke is brunette.
    2. The entire film is modernized.
    3. I like Burt Reynolds, but he should not be in the role of Boss Hogg.
    4. They did not use the original theme song by Waylon Jennings. I love Willie Nelson, but I think if anyone should have replaced Waylon, it should have been his son Shooter.
    5. (not 100% sure on this one) There is no balladeer.

After all of this bashing, I do have a few pros. Not many, though.

    1. Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse.
    2. Although, I do not think Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville can fill the shoes of John Schneider and Tom Wopat, I think there is no replacement for Bo and Luke. Therefore, I'm fine with SWC and JK.

I haven't seen the tv show so I guess the movie is better. And I do like to see modern celebrities.

Junior Brown is the narrator for the movie.
And another thing wrong with movie is that they make it seem that Uncle Jesse and maybe the boys are potheads.

Yes, there is a balladeer for The Dukes Of Hazzard movie. Country music singer Junior Brown famous for his "Highway patrol" and "Venom wearin' denim" is the balladeer.

Won't see the movie, but love the show better simply for the ads I've seen! It sounds disgusting and like a waste of time. It's been said, I know, but the show teaches right and wrong and family values. I'm just not seeing that happening in the movie.

I to perfer the series over the film because it was overall better. Although the clips of the film wasn't bad. However, the series is better over the film.

^ Same here I won't watch the movie, If the original cast tells people to stay away from this movie then I will stay away. All the Dukes of Hazzard movie did was make the TV show look bad for anyone who never seen the good and great original Dukes of Hazzard TV show.

Very true. Even even-tempered John wouldn't give a comment. Gotta mean he's not thrilled with it.
