The Dukes of Hazzard

Season 2 Episode 21

Mason Dixon's Girls

Aired Friday 8:00 PM Feb 29, 1980 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • The boys hide the "water heater" at Cooter's farm. How does Cooter have time to run a farm when he spends all day fixing either the General Lee or Rosco and Enos' patrol cars.

Editor's note: Many who own farms only work them part time or as a hobby and have regular jobs. Such appears to be the case with Cooter here.

    • When they are all in jail watch as Tom Wopat sits down, you can see he smacks his head on the bar, judging by the look on Toms face it hurt aswell.

  • Quotes

  • Notes

    • This episode is the second of two second season stories designed as a backdoor pilot - tests for possible other shows; in this case, one that would be based around travelling Private Investigator Mason Dixon and his two female associates. The other such case was "Jude Emery" broadcast two episodes. Neither of these concepts was developed beyond their initial backdoor pilots.

    • We learn in this episode that Boss Hogg absolutely refuses to handle narcotics in his county. One of the things Sorell Booke insisted on in regards to his character was that there be some things he not do. Among them we learned during the course of the show were having people killed and handling narcotics.

    • In this episode we learn that Cooter also owns a farm. Like so many other things on the show, this farm is never mentioned again (with one vague expection - in the third season episode "Dukes Vs Duke", Cooter says he has put all of his money into his stock car, and everything - including his farm - rests on him winning).

    • Veteran heavy Morgan Woodward would return once more in the show's final season in Cool Hands, Bo and Luke.

    • With James Best returning to the series after resolving his dispute with the producers, Rosco is back from his refresher course at the Police Academy (even though, due to the episode order being shuffled, he'd been seen four times since he supposedly left for the course!)
