Lulu Hogg stages an amateur night at the Boar's Nest. One of the performers is Rosco, who plans a magic act and employs his little fat buddy Boss as his assistant.
Boss is annoyed that he must participate in the act, because it conflicts with a scheduled appointment to close a big-time deal. However, knowing that Lulu would walk out on him if he refuses, he decides to participate.
Boss schemes to use the "disappearance" as an opportunity to drive into town for his appointment. However, the "disapperance" works out too well.
Two recent parolees - former partners of Boss whom were sent to prison on his testimony - are out to get their revenge on Hogg. They make their move, and kidnap Boss outside the Boar's Nest ... unknown to Rosco, the Dukes or others inside.
After convincing Lulu that Boss' disappearance may have been foul play, Bo and Luke search for Boss' captors, who have meanwhile demanded a huge ransom for his safe return and threatened mortal harm to Boss if any rescue efforts are detected.
The Dukes, meanwhile, have a difficult time convincing grief-stricken Rosco that his magic was not responsible for Boss' disappearnce. They then hatch a plan to rescue Boss and capture the criminals.
Once the bad guys are arrested, Bo and Luke convince Boss to reprise the second half of Rosco's magic trick. Boss still does not want to do so, until he sees an emotional Rosco recalling all the good times they had together and how he was the only one to stand by him. Boss then "reappears" on cue when Bo and Luke convince Rosco to try the trick, one last time. An overjoyed Rosco pinches Boss on the cheek and is happy to see his little fat buddy once again.
