The Dukes of Hazzard

Season 8 Episode 1

The Reunion!

Aired Friday 8:00 PM Apr 25, 1997 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • Throughout the race, some characteristics of the General Lee change from scene to scene. For example, in the race the car has a long red light stretching from one side to the other. At the end, the car has 2 seperate brake lights. And in some scenes the CB antenna is present, while it's gone in others.

    • As the General Lee is getting ready to make its final jump over the river, you can clearly see a camera hanging off the passenger door. And as the car is making the jump, it appears as though the camera is on the driver side. It's actually an inverted shot of the passenger side. You can tell because even though the 01 is on the right side of the screen, it looks like a 10. This sequence (without the reversed effect) originates from the first season episode "Double Sting", and was used on the opening credits sequence from the second season onwards, as well as being recycled in several other episodes.

  • Quotes

    • Enos: I got a question.
      Bo: Just one?
Enos: What in the world is Uncle Jesse cooking?

    • Luke: We can't even try to win the race while they're still holding Daisy.
Bo: So we gotta try to find and rescue Daisy before the race.
      Luke: Except that won't work.
      Bo: Really. Why not?
Luke: Because that's exactly the time they'll expect us to make some kind of move.
Bo: Well, when exactly won't they be expecting us to make some kind of move?
      Luke: During the race.
      Bo: What? While we're driving?
Luke: See? It even fooled you.
Enos: Uh, how're y'all gonna do that?
      Luke: We got no idea.

    • Daisy: Hey, fellas, what're we gonna do about Sticks River?
Bo: We're gonna jump it, that's what.
      Enos: What?
Luke: Yeah, we've done it before.
      Bo: When we were younger.
      Luke: And dumber.

    • Bo: We can leave the course, go out and rescue Daisy, and still get back in the race.
Cooter: How many guards y'all figure are at the mill?
Bo: The same ones at the Boar's Nest. We already whooped up on them. Bo and Luke laugh. I figure that's one thing we got in our favor.
Enos: What happens at the mill?
      Luke: That's the fun part.

    • Bo: Daisy is still planning her wedding, and somehow she's got the kidnappers helping her do it.
Luke: Man, she's gotta be driving them crazy.
Bo: Having them run errands for her.
Luke: Bringing her stuff back from...from town.
Bo and Luke: They gotta go to town!

    • Luke: All right. Get in the trunk, kidnapper.
      Racker: You're kidding, right?
Bo: Maybe you'd rather be a hood ornament.

    • Daisy: So, what's new?
Bo: Well, I wrecked my car.
      Uncle Jesse: That's not new.

  • Notes

    • Country music singer Don Williams replaces Waylon Jennings as the Balladeer in this movie. Jennings refused all offers to reprise his role.

    • Cooter's becoming a Congressman in this movie is obviously inspired by the fact that his portrayer, Ben Jones, served two terms in Congress from 1988-92.

    • In this episode it is revealed that Bo became a race car driver, Luke became a smoke jumper for the U.S. Forest Service, Daisy went to college and is trying for her PhD in Ecology, and Cooter became a Congressman.

    • This is Denver Pyle's final performance. He died 8 months after this special aired.
