  • Best of the Coy and Vance era and a good final episode sendoff for the two.

    10
Uncle Jessie is blinded in a robbery, stalked, and kidnapped by the robbers. Lost in the wilderness as Jessie tries to find his way out and signal to everyone looking for him after escaping his captors. The Dukes,Boss and Roscoe, and Enos all pull together to rescue Jessie. Boss showed he had the heart for Jessie by giving up a $10,000 deal to go find him. Episode has some great car jumps for Coy and Vance final full episode. By the end of the episode you are ready to see these punks get their justice because you do not hurt Uncle Jessie and Jessie regains his sight.moreless
  • Great job by Denver Pyle, best of coy and Vance shows.

    8.7
This episode was a Great job by Denver Pyle, best of coy and Vance shows. He was able to listen in car and know exactly where he was so the Dukes could find him, and find a great place to build a fire. The cousins really love him. Even Boss and Roscoe really cared. This was last full episode with Coy and Vance.
  • Very similar to an Untouchables episode.

    5.0
Believe it or not, Witness: Jesse Duke has a great deal of similarity with an Untouchables episode named A Taste for Pineapple. In that Untouchables episode, Eliot Ness was blinded by a grenade explosion in an attack by a mob assassin. Here, Jesse Duke is blinded in a jewel robbery. Both men had to cope with their blindness and later fend off an attack while blind. Ness from the hit man who was determined to finish the job and Uncle Jesse from the jewel robbers who want him out of the way so they can't be identified.

One wonders if the writer for this episode was an Untouchables fan during his formative years and simply adapted the script from A Taste for Pineapple to fit Dukes of Hazzard. As for the actual episode it's one of the better ones of the Coy and Vance Era on the Dukes. Not that that's high praise but we do get a good performance from Denver Pyle as Uncle Jesse. He never gave a bad one the entire series.moreless

    • This episode bears an amazing similarity to the final episode of The Untouchables called A Taste for Pineapple. In that one, Eliot Ness is blinded in an attempted gangland hit and has to fight off an attempt by the assassin to finish the job. Here, Uncle Jesse is blinded while witnessing a jewelry store robbery and has to fight off the robbers who want to silence him for good.
