Blake: Sammy Jo.
Alexis: Oh, God, how I loathe that name. That girl.
Blake: Well, she's going to New York to become a model and she's leaving the baby to be brought up by Krystle and me.
Alexis: She's leaving the baby to be brought up by Krystle? How dare you turn over my own flesh and blood to... to an ex-stenographer.
Blake: Krystle is my wife and don't you ever forget it.
Alexis: So where do I come in? Am I suppose to beg your wife's permission every time I want to see my own son's child?
Blake: Of course not. You can see him any time you want to. I'd never deny you that right.
Alexis: Oh, that's big of you, Blake. But the fact remains, that child will no longer be Steven's. It will belong to Krystle.
Blake: Well, you cost her the life of her own child, damn it! Now, she can give this baby all that love that she has so much of.
Alexis: What about me? I've got a lot of love too to give that child.
Blake: Your brand of love, Alexis, he can manage very well without it. Believe me, I should know.

Kirby: Understand that, as a child in this house, I thought I was an equal with Steven and Fallon. And when I found out that that wasn't so... that I was some kind of second-class citizen...
Joseph: Second-class? Why? Because you're my daughter? I take pride in my work, Kirby. I have the respect and trust of my employer.
Kirby: That isn't enough for me.
Joseph: What? What more do you want?
Kirby: The upstairs world. I tasted it in Paris. Jean-Paul taught me about good foods and fine wines and beautiful clothes. And he taught me something else. That I have something some men want. And next time I'm going to make sure that I get what I want in return. Yes. Respectability. Not to be the downstairs girl that you take to bed, but the upstairs girl you marry. Oh, and you know what they say, "Knowing what you want is the first step in achieving it."

Blake: All right. Then, Krystle and I will take care of your child. But we will not buy him from you. And I guarantee, we will not let anyone else buy him from you either. So, what's your decision?
Sammy Jo: Okay. I'll leave the baby with you. Until I make it big and come back for him. And I'll get by without your money. I don't need it.
Blake: I think you will. You are my son's widow. I'm going to arrange a monthly support for you.
Sammmy Jo: I guess it wouldn't look so great in every newspaper in the country if somebody named Carrington had to go on welfare, would it?
