      • (Gary is in a jail cell)
Bernie: We gotta get you outta here.
Gary: Well, unless you got a hacksaw, you're not gonna have time to...
Bernie: Hacksaw? I don't need no stinking hacksaw.
(Bernie unlocks the cell with a key from his pocket)
Gary: Where'd you get those keys?
Bernie: You know Mikey, he owns the hardware store. Last time they had the stationhouse rekeyed, he made me an extra copy. He knows how important it is for the community leader to have access to the pokey. That's why he's in my posse.
Gary: Hey, listen, Dad, is any of this, by chance, legal?
Bernie: I think it falls in a gray area.

      • Gary: Why is it that everyone thinks that I own a chain of successful restaurants?
        Lois: I don't know.
        Gary: Mom!
Lois: Well, sometimes your dad and I embelish things a little bit.
Gary: Mr. Bebo would like to buy some stock.
Lois: Wel, Gary, people like to brag about their kids. And what am I supposed to say about you? "My son gets tomorrow's newspaper..."

      • (The cat and paper come at 5:30.)
Gary: Do you have any idea what time it is? Every morning, 3 years, it's been 6:30 and I can live with it, but 5:30? That's not civilized! People are sleeping at 5:30.
(Gary sees that 2 prisoners escape and his phone-call doesn't stop it.)
Gary: Why didn't you wake me up sooner?

      • Gary: I want you to go down to the school and keep Mr. Bancroft away from his car.
        Lois: I couldn't do that.
        Gary: Why not?
Lois: Well, I would just sound ridiculous like you do all the time.
        Gary: Mom!
