Kenny Powers, a former star baseball player, returns to his hometown but immediately finds that he is not as respected by people as he once was.
  • Will Ferrell style without him acting...extremely funny!

Watching this show is like watching a Will Ferrell movie. Explicit language, jokes and a hilarious but stupid main character. Kenny Powers, a former Major League Baseball Star, is at the low point of his life and goes back to his hometown to start all over again. With his drinking and anger problem this turns out to be not only quite hard for him and all the others around him, but also extremely funny for everybody watching. So if you like movies like "Stepbrothers" "Anchorman" or similar you are exacty where you belong, if not...you might be offended - because political correctnes is a word not known by the authors ;)moreless
  • Kenny Powers returned home.

When you watch Flight of the Conchords on HBO you see a witty, clever show that probably could be successful on another network. Eastbound + Down drops the f bomb five times in the first 20 seconds and relies on cursing more so than appealing to the highest common denominator.

Danny McBride chooses to simply mimic Will Ferrell rather than create a unique character, that could lead this series to fans' and critics' hearts alike. He has some humorous lines, but the majority of his schtick is an unbelievable overweight blob parading around being angry and tasteless. The rest of the cast does perfectly resemble the south, but looking at them makes you want to throw up, not chuckle.

I certainly had high hopes for this show but after seeing this I do not expect anywhere near that.moreless
