  • Kenny faces his old rival in a pitchoff.

I will be the first to admit that I expected this show to fail. Raunchy humor is only good in small dozes and cannot be the entire premise for a televised series, but I'll be darned if Eastbound + Down has not found a way to make it work. They drop more a bombs than the US during World War II and yet the show still has a good family value to it.

I am not a fan of Craig Robinson (The Office) but he showed some personality here and complemented both Will Ferrell and Danny R. McBride well as the arrogant former baseball player.

The show also dares to venture from traditional sitcom endings. I was predicting Kenny to strike out Reg, so imagine my surprise when he threw the pitch and it knocked his eye out. That's Eastbound + Down for you everybody.moreless
  • How has this show not caught fire?

    10
I have scoured the internet far and wide for a review that does this show justice, and have yet to find a single one; while it's not quite a "timeless" comedy series, there is no doubt that this show appeals to a new demographic and is introducing a new genre of comedy to the world: clever vulgarity. I cannot overstate how utterly fantastic the acting and writing is, and the execution of all aspects is spectacular; and, in spite of it's gratuitous profanity, it's always well paced and gets a solid laugh. This episode in particular was outstanding. While somewhat predictable at times (but never to a fault), this show never fails to disappoint, and I cannot wait for the season finale next week. I can only hope that, even if the show does not get picked up for another season (I would gladly accept this if it has a good ending), I pray HBO or some profanity-friendly network has the good sense of mind to give these guys (Ferrell, McKay, Hill, and most importantly the amazing Danny McBride) another show. They have impressed me thoroughly... and I am certainly not alone.moreless
