  • Extreme wrestling came to TNN on a Friday night and the network dropped the ball.

While the product was water downed over the years (98-01) TNN mishandled this show completely. Paul Heyman worked miracles with the crew he had at the time and with how he had to deal with the networks censoring and politics. I mean think of a Hard Rock video being played on CMT, that was how the network felt about ECW. The only time the show was advertised was while it was on and it was still the highest rated program on the channel. Overall TNN messed ECW over using it to test waters to lure the WWF to TNN. After they bought Vince over to TNN they changed the format of the channel to Spike TV, where ECW as it was six years ago would of been a perfect fit for the channel. Now all TNN/Spike TV has to show for what they did is TNA, which will never compete with the WWE, and will never reason the iconic status of ECW. So my opinion is this, ECW is underappreciated because of how the network treated them at the time, it could also be considered before it's time because if it was named ECW on SpikeTV i believe ECW would of worked.
