It was all coming down to this where everything in Edgemont is changing forever and everyone has to choice their destiny now. This is part one in the first and last two parter for the series. What really made this episode strong was Laruel, this episode really was more her story. She is obviously still in love with Mark but is having a hard time admiting it but her feeling might shift to Chris from the amount of time they interacted, Mark still has feelings for her but his feelings are starting to shift to another. I felt from the current stituation with the two it could of gone either way. I liked that scene when we see Mark and Chris try to move the couch out while both Mark and Laural argue, yeah I know that feeling it's a real pain in the ass to move in and out. But it was used as ironic symbolism for their indesion on their feelings. There is even a scene afterward in the coffee shop where Laurel says to Chris exactly what I feel about the issue I've been though "why can't people come out with their feelings and admit the god damn truth." then Chris gives wise advice telling her the act now because it looks like Mark is moving on.

I even like that subplot with Jen, she is starting to become disalusioned with her interplay with Eddie. I've always felt he was wrong for her, not that he's a villain or anything but he was always kinda flaky, never had any ambitions about the future making him sort of aimless, but worst of all irresponsible mainly with his relations with women. Jen obviously went out for him for the wrong reasons, it was mainly to retreat from her own identity. We see she has discovered two truth's one a relationship with Eddie bears no fruit, from the information from his girlfriend he has connection issues he doesn't want to get emotionally attached; he's sort of one of those people you could date for a while but when the ride is over you can easily leave. And his ambition is flawed where he imagines both Jen and him would just runaway together on the road doing whatever leaving the problems behind before her graduation. It's a thought we've all had once in a while that crosses a certain amount of seconds when under a degree of stress, but we know the truth is it's not real, it's an ambition with no destiny.

This all leads to my favorate moment when both Laurel and Mark have a talk in his room. They basically sum up most of their relationship together, the only problem was something was missing they haven't really taken that step foward that they need to take, possibly fear of getting too close or hurting one another from their differences. This of course was on the fact that both for about a year have never had sex. Then in the end I'll just say Laurel and Mark finally go beyond kissing, yeahhh!

We all have to take action toward a destiny because time stands still for no one.moreless
