  • Marshall and Simon find a very old letter in an old book and uncover a long lost love story.

    9.0
Marshall and Simon find an old, unmailed, letter tucked in a book at the World of Stuff. In it they read that a man named Tripp was in love with a girl named Mary Carter. At first they ignore the letter, but the ghost of Tripp McConnell was unleased when they opened the letter, and he won't leave Marshall alone until he delivers it. Tripp even appears to the Teller family, telling them he's a friend of Marshall's and magically winning them over with his charming stories. Marshall delivers the letter, but, of course, Mary is now an old woman. First she throws Marshall and Simon out of her house for "tricking" her, but they later sneak in with the use of "clever" disguises. She agrees to go with them to the World of Stuff in the middle of the night to meet Tripp.

This is a charming episode. Not only is there an eerie plotline, with the ghost of Tripp McConnell, but ultimately it is a charming love story. Tripp is played by Tobey Maguire in one of his earliest TV roles. It's touching to see him talking to this old woman as if he is in love with her. In his eyes she is the same young girl he saw just before he was killed on the way to deliver the letter.moreless
