Simon wanders around the city at night before he has his first lengthy conversation with Mr. Wilson. It's obvious that his parents don't care, but where the heck are the police or child services while he's out half the night?
Simon: You know what's weird?
Marshall: Besides Eerie?
Simon: They always tell you: "You can't buy friends," but I think you can. Y'know, guys like Nick and Eddie. But it's like buying expensive tennis shoes. They cost way too much and they don't last very long.
Marshall: Hmm, can I use that?
Simon: But I got all these new friends now.
Marshall: No you don't. (Nick and Eddie walk up to them)Hey Nick, what's this guy's name?
Nick: What, are you kidding? (He puts his arm around Simon) This is my old pal, Moneybags.
Marshall: No really, what's his real name?
Nick: Hey, I don't know.
Eddie: I forgot too, man.
Simon: I'm Simon.
(Nick and Eddie both pretend as if they just forgot, but remember now)
Marshall: There's trouble and there's trouble. Eating ice cream before dinner was one thing, but never had I been in the kind of trouble where they'd throw my dad in jail!
Marshall: I guess the rule is if something's too good to be true, then it's probably too good to be true.
Marshall: All this money's gotta come from somewhere!
Simon: Mr. Wilson says told me he gets the money from a big slurpee fund. Like all those government guys.
Marshall: You mean a slush fund.
Marshall: For Nick and Eddie, Simon's coolness lasted about as long as it takes to polish off a bag of milkballs.
Marshall: Everybody knows money can't buy you happiness. But Simon was about to find out money can buy you big, big trouble.
Simon: Mr. Wilson says he gets [the money] from a big slurpee fund.
Marshall: It sounds as if your mom and dad are having a party.
Simon: My mom's not home.
Marshall: (During his opening monologue) When dad created Mr. Wilson, the friendly automated teller machine, he had no idea what was going to happen to Eerie.
Mr. Wilson: Welcome, friend. I'm Mr. Wilson. Please enter user identification number.
Marshall: Everybody's heard of the savings and loan scandal. Well, what happened to my best friend Simon is even weirder.
Max Headroom: Mr. Wilson's design and way of speaking is very similar to that of Max Headroom, a short-lived series that featured a stuttering, often frenzied computer generated man.
Perfecto Garcia: When Marshall asks about Mr. Wilson' status, his dad replies, "Perfecto Garcia."
Perfecto Garcia is a relatively inexpensive and rather bland cigar, making this an extremely ironic description of the situation.
