It's the calm after the storm... but the calm won't last long. Kurama and the secret facility are sending two people after Lucy. One is the newly healed and stronger Bando. The other is a diclonius just like Lucy. At Kouta's house, Yuka and a homeless girl named Mayu talk about the events that happened two nights ago at the beach. All of a sudden, Nyuu slips and falls. She bangs her head and Lucy awakens inside of her. Will Kouta and the others be safe with the murderous Lucy in their house? And will Lucy stand a chance against a fellow diclonius?moreless
  • I sense an on-set of the DBZ complex.

This episode ends on a note that is sure to instigate a battle in the next. Because of the powerful nature of the Diclonus, I sense that there might be a struggle over who is more powerful, hence the DBZ complex.

The contents of the episode itself were rather dull in comparison to the previous episodes. There was little action, no blood, and minimal nudity. However, the plot is thickened in this episode, and that more than makes up for it. The viewer discovers just what Lucy is, and they get a general sense that Kohta has met one of the mutants, perhaps even Lucy herself, in his past.

Oh, what tangled webs we weave when we practice to deceive. 9/10.moreless

hmmm... this episode was interesting... alot of touching... and alot of wanted to be touched... well i feel bad for yuka, she obviously has a crush on kouta but thats kinda nasty him being her cusin and all, arnt they related? but yea i feel bad for her but shes abit to emotional about it and her asking him if he wanted to touch her breasts was... suprising to say the least. i like the little homeless girl though, i had thought that lucy was going to kill her dog. i feel sorry for nana too, she thinks that guy is her father when he doesnt care about her at all!moreless

    • In the anime, Lucy/Nyuu has a significant physical presence. In the manga, Nana is taller and appearently heavier than Lucy/Nyuu. Another Nana contrast is that in the anime, Nana appears younger than in the manga. The differences are readily appearent when Nyuu and Nana stand side by side in the manga.

    • When the episode begins, you see that Kouta is holding Nyuu's legs and underwear up, has his eyes closed, and has his face towards Nyuu. But when the camera shifts, Kouta automatically has his eyes open and is looking directly at Yuka.

    • (Kouta is cleaning the floor when Nyu gets too close, causing him to elbow her in the left breast. She jumps and blushes.) Kouta: Shoot! I-I'm sorry! (Nyu trembles and her face is red. She takes Kouta's hand and pushes it into her right breast.) Kouta: What? W-what are you doing? (Nyu pushes herself into his hand, crying out to him as she moves back and forth) Kouta: You want me to squeeze it? (Kouta squeezes, and Nyu jumps) Nyu: Nyuu!! Kouta: I wonder who would have taught her to do this? (Yuka comes in) Yuka: Well, well... Kouta: (surprised) Uhh.... Yuka: A love affair. Isn't that just terrific? Kouta: It wasn't me...I swear! Nyu started it! (Yuka slaps Kouta, causing birds to stir outside)

    • (Next Episode Preview) Narrator: There was no need for a single motive. All it took was an order from above. On the land of the dead, a horrible banquet of blood and tears is served. Next time on Elfen Lied, episode four: Collision.

    • Nana: (to Lucy) Umm... I guess you knew that I was coming, right? I've come to take you and bring you home.

    • Kouta: Water... Nyuu: Nyuu? Kouta: Do you think you could bring me some water? Nyuu: Nyuu? Kouta: I said "water", okay? (sigh) You have no idea what I'm saying. Nyuu: Wa-ter? Kouta: Uh, right. Do you think you could get me some water? Nyuu: (nods) Nyuu! (Nyuu starts running around and makes noises) Nyuu: Nyuu! (hands him a slipper) Kouta: Thank you. It's the thought that counts.

    • Scientist: (About Nana) The director's fatherly behaviour...Because he acts like a father to her...it's the only reason she's endured till now. Without him, at the very least her mind would have collapsed.

    • Kouta: It's impossible for you. If you make it, I'll do whatever you have to say. Yuka: Aren't we high and mighty? Just you watch, next time I do it, I'll cut it cleanly for sure. Kouta: Well, at least you'll get some good practice. Yuka: So when I finish it, be sure to really do whatever I say. It's a promise. Kouta: I'll be sure to remember.

    • Nana: Ah! I've never worn anything like this before! Does it look good, Papa? Does it?
