Episode Recap

Eli is taking a shower when he finds a naked Maggie coming in with him. He wonders what's going on but she doesn't notice anything unusual. Eli soon realizes that she's seeing him as Scott. Eli goes to see Frank and figures this vision and his earlier one about Maggie at the Supreme Court mean there's something involving her. Frank is skeptical but notes that they've determined Eli can change the future.

Jordan and Posner both make offers to all the associates. Keith is eager to stay with Jordan, and Matt is skeptical about going with Posner until he's offered a full partnership. As associates start to abandon ship, Eli approaches Maggie who says she's been busy and hasn't been approached by Posner. She's clearly unwilling to even consider following Posner and Klein to the new location.

Taylor wants Eli to convince Matt to stay and he gives it his best shot. The best Eli can do is convince him that waiting for a week will get Posner to increase his offer. Meanwhile, Posner offers Maggie a senior associate position in the pro bono division at double her salary. She's skeptical and he ups the ante by giving her a check for $20,000 to donate to an ecological group.

Eli tries to attract Matt's attention by finding him a case to pique his interest. They don't have much luck but a client Will comes in and wants Eli to represent his girlfriend, who has been arrested by Homeland Security… along with her husband. Meanwhile, Patti tries to rally the secretarial staff to stay put. They want her to get them to lift the wage freeze Jordan and Eli have put in place and Patti says she'll do what she can.

Matt and Eli meet with their client, who explains that Will's girlfriend Sana moved to the U.S. from Pakistan and has a green card wedding with Will's gay friend Carter. Homeland Security found out and plans to send her back. Will explains that if Sana is sent back to Pakistan, she'll be forced into a planned wedding and killed.

Scott visits Maggie at the office, and when Eli stops by Scott mentions Posner's offer. Eli talks to her in private and she says she told Posner she'd think about it. He promises to match Posner's salary offer. Meanwhile, Jordan tries to work out the financial situation and Taylor is irritable. He says she can talk to him about anything. Eli tells them about Maggie's offer but they warn they can't match Posner's offer. Jordan tells Eli he has to stop letting sentiment cloud his judgment, but lets him make the call. Eli goes to Maggie and explains that he can't match Posner's offer. Maggie admits that the firm changed her life and she plans to stay.

In court, Sana explains that she is now considered impure and as the property of her father, he will have to kill her to restore his honor. The government attorney, Miss Booker, claims that Sana is exaggerating the matter and notes that honor killings have been outlawed. Sana says that men are the ones who enforce the law. Booker notes that Sana's father sent her to the U.S. to study and they have to take her word when she lied about her wedding vows. As they return to the office, Matt wonders if Sana is lying. Patti tells Eli that she has twenty-two staff staying but Eli warns they don't even need that many. Eli warns that his hands are tied and Patti becomes furious.

Eli and Matt meet with Sana's cousin Amir, who is familiar with Sana's father and refuses to compromise his honor to provide Sana with evidence that her father is threatening her. Eli asks if Sana should die for Amir's honor and he agrees to help. Matt is impressed despite himself. As they return to the office, Eli finds himself back in a vision as Scott in Maggie's bathroom. However, Eli discovers that Scott is in a different bathroom… with another woman. The woman, Amir, notes that Scott has broken up with her before and they have to hurry so she can meet with her husband later.

Eli and Matt present the letter to Booker but she notes it's vague and unauthenticated. Even Matt is shocked at her lack of compassion but Booker believes the judge will rule in favor of the law. Eli appeals to her and she agrees to offer her a deal: they'll drop the charges against Carter if Sana goes back to Pakistan. Matt insists they can win but Sana doesn't want Carter to go to jail.

At Maggie's engagement party, almost no one is there and Taylor notes that even Matt is distracted over his case. He admits he's never been so upset before and she admits that she didn't want them working at separate firms, and asked Eli to convince Matt to stay. As Matt talks about how he would have agreed to stay if Taylor had asked him to, he has an idea about Sana. Meanwhile, Maggie is getting drunk on margaritas and admits that she and Scott had an argument over her turning down Posner's offer. She thinks Scott is so concerned about her and Eli realizes he has to tell her what he knows.

Jordan offers Taylor some sushi and when she takes a particular type, he realizes she's pregnant. She wonders if she can see herself as a mother and wonders if she'll be keeping it. He assures her he'll be there for her no matter what. Meanwhile, Eli tries to explain about being in her shower but Scott arrives before he can tell her about Scott's affair. Scott tells Eli to back off and Eli tells him that he knows about the affair. Scott throws a punch and Eli punches back, telling Scott to tell her or he will. Maggie tells Eli to get out.

The next day, Matt meets with Sana and tells her that Carter and Will both need her. Matt ushers Will in and tells Sana to explain what will happen to her. Matt describes what will happen to each of them as they live with the guilt. In court, Matt gives the closing argument and states that Sana will die, and was willing to face death rather than let Carter go to jail, showing the strength of her bond. The judge agrees to let Sana stay in the U.S. as long as there's a threat against her. Afterward, a spiteful Booker says that she's expediting procedures with her boss Candace Bonneville to make sure Carter gets the full sentence of five years.

Back at the firm, Eli apologizes to Maggie, and she informs him the wedding is off. Maggie doesn't entirely blame Scott though: he proposed to get her to forget Eli. She realizes that Eli doesn't feel the same way and notes that Scott was having an affair with Candace Bonneville. However, Eli realizes that Maggie is leaving for Posner & Klein and she explains she can't let her love for Eli interfere and she's going to put herself first.

Eli meets with Candace and notes that the office has signed off on other deals without prison time. As they talk, Eli sees a photo of Candace's husband and son on her desk, and brings up her extra-marital affair. He strongly suggests she review the case again and she agrees to give Carter community service.

Maggie meets with Posner and tries to negotiate with new terms. She realizes that he wants her and tells him to take her terms or leave them. He agrees and welcomes her to the firm.

Eli tells Matt what happened, and Matt admits he's never felt so gratified. However, he doesn't want to go through all the stress again and again so he's leaving the firm for Posner & Klein. Matt admits he admires Eli for putting up with it, but he can't do it. Matt then tells Taylor he's leaving but makes plans for dinner with her that night and she's fine.

Eli talks to Patti and says he knows that Posner made her and the rest of the staff an offer. He admits he can't get by without her and she admits he's right. He tells her to let the others know that they'll be unfreezing the wages and he'll pay for it himself if necessary. Eli finds Jordan as he looks out over the partially emptied offices and they prepare to go over the files for new clients. But first Jordan offers Eli his hand and welcomes him as a partner.
