  • Eli works hard to make people believe in an earthquake he saw in one of his visions.

Eli Stone's espisodes are getting more and more emotional as Eli approaches the day of his surgery. It was very emotional to watch his great effort of making people believe him and Foote's earthquake forecast and, besides that, the stress of dealing with his living will and the possibility he might die during surgery. I can't imagine myself coping with all this without losing it, especially with one of my bosses trying to get me fired! Jonny Lee Miller did a great job in this episode. One complaint, though. I can't find any reason whatsoever why Maggie would help Marci against Eli! Even though Maggie thinks her feeling's for Eli are not mutual, I think she was very ungrateful as a friend!
  • The little boy who cried wolf... with a little help from his friends.

I felt as if this episode was merely a fan appeaser. Which does NOT mean I did not like it. (I am, after all, a fan. I was appeased.) For once, Eli is right. After another earthquake denoting vision (this time with dates and locations) Eli brings his visions, his beliefs, and his warning to the one place he can do any good; the courtroom. On the subplot, we find Jordan Wethersby being challenged for his position in the firm. When it comes down to his career against Eli's case, Wethersby actually sides with Eli. This counts for a lot, to me. Of course, Wethersby gets the pay of in the end. The reason I labeled this "Alternate Reality" is not because the show actually had a major earthquake in San Francisco, but because they had it destroy the Golden Gate Bridge. It just seems like such a cliché for movies and shows. Oh well. I guess I can forgive them. :P
  • Up until now I had my doubts about this show, altough I liked it I wasn't sure if it was one of my favorites or not... until now.

On Episode 8 (Praying for time) there was a big discussion about an earthquake that may or may not hit San Francisco, thus the big rush to evacuate all the people from the development that was supposed to be the location of the center of that so called earthquake. I wanted so bad to have that earthquake shown so people would start to believe Eli, but that didn't happen.

This is the episode I was hoping for, from the emotional dilemma about Eli's surgery and all the risks he would have to take, to the desperation about trying to save thousands of people, this episode was full of emotions. The character of Matt Dowd was so meh to me, I didn't hate him nor root for him, but on this episode I really liked him, on the scene with him and Eli you could see the compassion and empathy Matt was feeling for Eli, and the last scene with Taylor and Patty, it was very emotional. One thing though, through out the whole episode I was thinking 'they better show an earthquake because if at the end nothing happens I swear I won't see this show anymore'... and they did!!! Finally the big sign from God that Eli is a prophet!!!

I really hope this show gets another season!!! please! oh please!!
  • This show has potential to be great and this episode exemplifies that.

Eli Stone is ambitious in many ways. It attempts to tackle tremendous themes of faith and hope and God and love. It also attempts to remain light hearted and humorous. It also attempts to be unique and somewhat quirky. To a lesser extent, it attempts to understand the legal process in the setting of a courtroom drama. This episode stands for what this show can really become. It also puts the series in an interesting predicament. Eli's visions are now validated. For the last few episodes, Eli's faith has become a backbone of the show. His own personal faith in himself and his visions has been put to the test and through his experience with his father, he was re-affirmed. Few self-doubts lingered by the start of this episode. By the end of the episode, few doubts from anyone might linger. When a show relies on the "is he or isn't he" or "are they or aren't they" premise, an element of mystique is lost when those questions are answered. In the X-files, the first five seasons questioned whether Mulder was truly crazy and at many times, there were serious doubts as to whether there were ever any aliens at all. On Lost, the reveals keep coming but the one that springs to mind was Locke's paralysis. Until "Tallahassee" the audience was left to question the nature of Locke's pre-island paralysis (psycho-somatic, faked, etc.). So now that Eli has joined these shows in taking a huge risk and answering a big question, it is in an interesting position. It seems Eli will go through with the brain surgery. This may be the best possible answer by the writers to this predicament. Undoubtedly, this will take the show in new directions and I look forward to what they have in store as a season finale this Thursday!
  • Wow...that's all I have to say, the writing, acting, and everything about this episode was just amazing!

Following the magnitude of last weeks episode, not many shows would be able to follow or even top it. However, this is Eli Stone we are talking about here, and let me tell you, this episode toped last week's episode and probably every other episode of the season. I mean, it had everything, from going back to the story line of when Eli took out the residents of Silver Terrace to Michael Bay-like special effects! It was flat-out amazing. We also get to meet Maggie's fiance, but it gets me thinking, if her fiance didn't die in the earthquake, how does their relationship end and how do Eli's and Maggie's flourish? I love the way that Maggie believes in Eli so much as well, its great foundation for a great relationship. Also, I'm glad to see that Patti is fully behind Eli now, but to see everyone else at the firm pretty much turn their backs on him, I would say that it serves them right to be caught in the first of the earthquakes. I hope that Jordan gets to keep his job and that Marcy is the partner that leaves instead. After seeing this episode, I don't know how crazy next week's episode will be, we'll just have to wait and see!
  • Eli Stone finally has a chance to make another move on his earthquake prediction, this time with help from a "seismologist" Dr. Foote. He takes San Francisco city to court to get them to close the Golden Gate Bridge.

An absolutely wonderful episode. I was actually really moved by Eli's speech on the desk in the law firm. To be honest, a lot of people have had issues with this show because of its delicate dealings with faith/reality etc. I personally have found it rather inspiring to watch. Faith is sometimes hard to come by and some of the stuff that Eli is made to say or even the actions by faith of his coworkers provide support and encouragement to the viewers. This episode sort of brought together all of the unfinished pieces of Eli's life as he realizes for himself and for others that he really may be able to predict the future. And, what timing ... right before his surgery. I hope this show is picked up for a second season. It deserves another round to continue inspiring its viewers.
  • If you're looking for words to describe your feelings when the earthquake hit - how about validation and vindication. I came to this page ready to give this episode a triumphant 9.9 (on the Richter Scale) - but I guess 10.1 is more like it.

It finally happened. Now the whole world is aware of Eli's extraordinary powers that - if he doesn't do something quickly to put an end to - will kill him. What would you do?

Eli has now convinced even the heartless Marci Klein that there is something miraculous going on here. In the process, he has saved countless lives and the job of the person who, against all convention, showed the most faith in him, Jordan Wethersby. I could just hear Eli fans around the country jumping up out of their chairs, pumping their fists in the air and yelling, "YES".

There are all of the other, numerous storylines of romance and office intrigue that we could talk about here, but the end of this episode was the breakthrough we've all been waiting for. I am waiting to see the overnight numbers come in on this, and I just pray that all of those people who watched a rerun of Desperate Housewives on Thursday and stuck around for Eli following (it held an incredible 96% of the Thursday lead-in), tuned in on Sunday night for their DHW fix and got a peek at the best new series of the year. (Edit: Nielsen numbers just came in and Eli won it's time slot in total viewers, 18/49 viewers AND share).

ABC seems ready to do whatever it can (in this strike-begotten season) to get the kind of numbers Eli needs to get renewed. Last night could have been the clincher. This show looks like a multiple-Emmy nominee series and the network should be given credit for sticking with it and believing in it.

Along with the creators, producers, writers, cast and crew... and all of the fans that just knew they were on to something special... we've all been 'Waiting for That Day'.
  • The classification says it all.

This was easily the best episode of the season. Everyone was firing on all cylinders, however; easily the best parts had to be the tension between Marci and Jordan. In that we see the true effect that Eli has had on people. Marci was the old guard: Hard, only interested in big clients and the bottom line. Whereas in Jordan we see law tempered with compassion. I can't help (want) to believe that he believed in Stone during this crisis. And even if he didn't, he stood by him even though it almost cost him his partnership.

In my opinion, there were 3 well defined moments. First, when Jordon told Eli to finish his case. He knew what was going to happen but wasn't concerned. The discussion in the office was outstanding. Second, Eli and his living will. Here, for a moment, everyone begins to realize what he is dealing with. And finally, the earthquake itself.

The earthquake brings in several moments. Eli and Chen going after Foote. The trial where Maggi is used against him, and finally the earthquake itself. This is THE most significant part because Eli fully embraces himself, even though he's going through with the operation anyway. Patti and Maggie join him. But the best scene here isn't when he's standing on the table telling everyone to leave, nor is it when he gets the bridge closed because the mayor actually believes him. The best moment is the boardroom scenes. Jordan makes a passioned plea but is still voted out. Marci sends up crocodile tears as Jordan is leaving. The timing of the earthquake couldn't have been more perfect! The destruction of the bridge vindicates all. The season finale is going to be interesting. Can't wait to see what happens next. Oh, and since ABC is declaring Eli Stone it's "Newest hit series" It will be back next fall. Can't wait!
  • Eli's earthquake prediction finally comes true!

Loved this one! I liked that he did finally lose in court, love that the woman partner was put in her place! Awesome can't wait for the next episode. I hope that Maggie realizes that she loves Stone and he loves her soon, the tension is riveting, as much as I loved him with Taylor he and Maggie just belong together, she really believes in him no matter what.

Just love his assistant, she gets him everytime it is like the mom that he really needs watching him all the time! I hope she really starts to believe him now that the earthquake has happened. I hope that surgery fails and does not take away his ability.
  • This episode was fantastic!

This episode was fantastic! Easily the best episode for the season. Early I mentioned this was my second favorite show of all the new shows created this year, right behind Terminator... I was wrong. Eli Stone is a wonderful show. that everyone could love to watch... Unless they have no heart, and hate to watch family dramas. And for those who say the show is unrealistic, so is Battlestar Galactica, which i love as well. Either way Eli Stone better get picked up by ABC. But i have nearly complete faith that ABC will make the right decision, unlike other networks.
  • Pure magic.

This show has incredible imagination. This episode begins with Eli having yet another earthquake vision. This time he's actually a backseat passenger in the car with Maggie's fiance as the earthquake hits on the Golden Gate Bridge. However, Eli is not alone in his prediction, there is an eccentric scientist who is predicting the earthquake to strike at the exact date and time as Eli. Of course, Eli takes him on as a client against the City of San Francisco in order to get them to close the bridge. Marci Klein who has returned to the firm to oust Jordan decides to go up against Eli and she takes Maggie with her. I was pretty disppointed in Maggie for agreeing to second chair this case with Marci, but it doesn't stop Eli from going forward. What I loved the most about this episode is Eli's willingness to just follow his vision and see where it takes him. His attitude is almost fatalistic but he is still passionate. Even after he loses the case, he stands on a table at the firm, puts his pride aside and gives a heart-felt speech encouraging everyone to evacuate. I won't give the ending away but it's worth watching.
  • This episode was the perfect lead-in for the season finale (Spoilers!!)

So Eli sued the city to try and make a judge close the Golden Gate bridge. Peg Bundy made Maggie testify against him, she told the court he had told her before about the earthquake and that he could see the future so ultimately he lost the case. But thank God the Mayor of the city believed him and closed the Golden Gate Bridge just in case he was right.

Soooo he was right and the earthquake finally happened and the bridge cracked just like Eli predicted it! I really loved this episode! I cannot begin to tell you how HAPPY I AM that the b%$ch Peg Bundy was WRONG!!!!!! YAYYY FOR ELIIIIIII!!!!!!!!! And I was so proud of Victor Garber when he defended Eli before all the other associates saying that everyone needs Eli Stone and I think he was right. I NEED ELI TOOOOO!!! I really hope there's a second season! I saw this episode as a filler, leading up to the great season finale on thursday... I just can't wait!!!!
