  • This is one of the episodes that sticks in my mind when I think of how the show dealt with social issues like drugs

    10
I really thought the schoolgirl OD'ing and dying was pretty sobering...and then the mother being in denial about her daughter doing drugs. Huge dose of reality there. I thought it was pretty cool when they showed one of the treatment rooms being set up for the girls arrival, the equipment like the respirator being brought in..I remember during the rescue, all the girl's friends standing around her in disbelief that she OD'd on barbituates..All the episodes involving drugs and alcohol are pretty real. Also I havee always loved the humorous side of Emergency!especially all the incidents involving Johnny who seems to be the butt of practical jokes as well as always involved in one crazy scheme after another!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • The scene where Johnny and Roy are at the high school and the girls are standing around the one girl that has O.D., the woman that's playing the nurse is none other than Kathrine McGreggor a.k.a. Mrs. Oleson from Little House on the Prairie.

    • When the first call comes in Chet is right there and usually he would have been shown acknowledging the call out. But there is a cut away showing Roy and John getting in the squad and when it cuts back to the person acknowledging the call out, it's Captain Stanley.

    • This is the second episode in a row that showed someone with Tetanus (Lock Jaw). The previous episode, Dinner Date, also had someone with Tetanus.

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Chet: Are you guys mad about something?
      Roy: He is, I'm not.
      Chet: Well, what's his problem?
Roy: My wife's cousin. I fixed him up with her for dinner last night.
Chet: And she turned out to be a dog, right? Never fails.
Roy: As a matter of fact, she turned out to be a real doll.
Chet: Well, then what is he mad about?
Roy: He struck out as usual.
Chet: Well, that's tough, but how come it's your fault?
Roy: That's right. (Turning to Johnny) How did it turn out to be my fault that you struck out?
Johnny: I never said it was your fault.
Roy: Well, then why are you mad at me?
Johnny: All right. You wanna know why I'm mad at you? I mean do you--
      (pauses for a few moments)
      Roy: Well?
Johnny: Don't rush me. I'm tryin' to figure it out.

These quotes actually go to the previous episode, "Dinner Date."
